THE FACTIONS

X-Men
The brainchild of Professor Charles Xavier, the X-Men are basically the good guys of the mutant world. The X-Men firmly believe in positive human/mutant relations, particularly amongst the younger generations. They defend the human population from those mutants who would see them destroyed, at the same time they defend themselves from mutant haters who would destroy them. The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning remains the cradle of positive human/mutant relations in the USA. Students from all over the world come to be taught how to control their powers. The senior teams (career members, adventurers, everyday joes, whatever) work to continue the dream of Xavier.

The Brotherhood
The natural enemies of the X-Men. The public face of the anti-human movement within the mutant community. Lead by Magneto, the Brotherhood is the public face of the anti-human movement. Aided by John Allerdyce, he has learnt from Alcatraz and plans to remind the humans exactly why they should fear the Brotherhood. These are the mutants splashed all over the news for random acts of violence. Anyone can join the Brotherhood, just as long as you hate humans, believe mutants are superior and aren’t likely to betray the cause. Magneto doesn’t provide education like Xavier’s does, but he makes sure his members know how to control their powers.

Hellfire Club
The rich and powerful, with way too much time on their hands. Coming from old money and the best breeding, the Hellfire Club are the who’s who of the social scene. A secret society of powerful mutants, hidden within an elite social club, the Hellfire inner court are some of the most influential mutants in the world. They control things from behind the scenes, using power an influence to slowly take over the world. The younger generations of this elite group are the Hellions, similar to Xavier’s students. Ruled by the Lords Cardinal, an inner circle of mutants named after chess pieces. These are the privileged few, they are the elite.

Human-Mutant Alliance
Formed as a means to promote positive mutant/human relations to the general public, the HMA is first and foremost a public interest group. Made up of humans and mutants from in and around District X, the HMA champion mutant rights in the courts, the media and out on the streets. A special branch of the HMA known as the Peace Corps are there to help out mutants in need.

Morlocks
The Morlock’s are a group of mutants unable to pass as human due to the nature of their mutations. The Morlocks squat in a network of abandoned, interconnected tunnels beneath Manhattan, which were originally built as Cold War bomb shelters and then forgotten following the fall of communism. The Morlocks are a largely peaceful group. However, misguided attempts to gain something from the surface world have brought them into conflict with the Brotherhood. They work occasionally with the X-Men.

Hyperion
The brainchild of retired Hellfire Club member Christopher Light, Hyperion is a high-class establishment that hires out talented and trained mutants to the highest bidder. Agents of the organization handle various jobs as mercenaries and assassins, bodyguards, espionage, hackers, and even have a side of pleasure in paid companions. Whatever suits ones needs for the right price. The daughter of Mr. Light, Amaranth Moreau-Light, currently heads this underground and secretive organization.

Friends of Humanity
A group of anti-mutant humans who would see all mutants wiped off the face of the earth. Formed soon after the Liberty Island incident, the Friends of Humanity are the main campaigners in the fight to force all mutants to take the Cure. A relatively harmless group at present, the Friends of Humanity are fast on their way to becomming something all mutants should be worried about.

Humans
Does this really need any explanation? These are the normals, the flatliners, the majority of the population. I think we all know what a human is by now.

Neutrals
The ones who are just trying to make a living. Some of them don’t know enough about the factions, some just don’t give a rats arse, and others just want to survive as best they can.
