Hey! I'm Cosmobeak, Cosmo, CB, or Becca. Whatever You'd like to use.

I've always been somewhat interested in politics, but recently (In the last couple years) actually got my mind together and started formulating my own opinions (Isn't it funny how you eat up everything the older kids say when you're little?). I think what draws me to politics is my interest in advocating youth entrepreneurship and involving youth in the community. I often feel that society really looks down upon it's youngsters, and that our generation is going lead younger individuals into an age of adolescent action.

Although I'm interested in politics I don't think I could ever force myself into a Government position (As in presidential or congress...I don't think I would mind being a judge, though.) no matter how much money they gave me. But, however, this opinion might just be a symptom of my adolescent rebelliousness, but I don't think so. XD I like ideas and stuff, but the bureaucracy would kill me and I think I would find more value in a job where I could actually DO something. Ha!

The Issues

Abortion: This one is tricky to explain. Fundamentally I am pro-life, because I feel that every life is sacred, and everybody has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, we've made a mistake in the past by allowing abortion to be legal. We can't just slap together some half baked law to clean up what we've done! We've got to look at what this action has done to our society, try to reduce our dependence on abortion, and then, and only then, make abortion illegal.

Gay Rights: I am for Gay Rights, and the fact that this is even an issue literally makes me sick to my stomach. We are all human, and we are all different. Just because you're not homosexual doesn't mean you have to take away the rights of everybody that is. It's purely unconstitutional and discriminitory. It seems like our society just wants someone to bully; first the African-Americans and Women, and now homosexuals. Let's grow up, shall we?

Evolution/Creationism: I'm not sure what I believe on this one. There are a few things I will proudly support, and that is astrophysical theories like The Big Bang. I honestly don't know enough about the little stuff in evolution to formulate a solid opinion, though I do think the primordial soup is a good argument, despite what others believe.

Universal Health Care: I am 100% for Universal Health Care. Most people against it are afraid that we'll turn into the USSR if we socialize anything, which is completely ridiculous. What they fail to realize is that we socialize a LOT of things here in the states, including, but not limited to:

- The Postal Service
- Our Public Schools
- Social Security

I'm proud of our post office, and I think it works pretty flawlessly. Not to mention that most, if not all of the countries out there with socialized medicine have a higher life expectancy then the life expectancy in the United States.

These are all the issues I'll talk about now, but if you're curious about any of my viewpoints, feel free to ask me any questions by either replying to this, or sending me a PM. You can also spark up a debate with me, and I'll be happy to elaborate on any of my views.

----------------------------
I'm obsessed with Harry Potter. Obsessed. And I have been for a long time, and I doubt I'll ever get over the amazing series. Firstly, it's just unbelievably written. J.K.R does an amazing job with detail and character development. I mean it, when people died in that series it was like losing a part of me. Sounds Cheesy, but it's true. XD

I'm also quite obsessed with the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. It's the first time I have ever even considered picking up a book that is classified partially as a Romance, but I feel in love with it from page one. I can relate to the main character incredibly well (As you can probably see, I have a thing for books with good character development) and Edward Cullen is the sexiest man ever. He's perfect. I will not rest until I find my Edward!

I love video games. Final Fantasy and Zelda are my favorites. I become obsessed way to easily, so guess what? I'm obsessed with video games! Storyline in Final Fantasy games are just flawless. I love FFX.

Among my other interests are Anime, Writing, Reading (shows doesn't it?), Music and kids. I love kids. I also love school and love to learn.

I'll add more later!

Lamby-poo! Haha. If you go here, you'll find a tutorial on how to upload an avatar.

The thing at the bottom is part of my signature. It's a banner I made in The Gimp (kind of like photoshop, but free. haha) If you go to the Groups section, and then to the Graphics group, you'll see a place where you can request a banner. smile.gif I'm glad you like it. biggrin.gif

Hey Becca- I'm a fairly new user... I love the site. It's soo cool you made one...

I just have one thing to say about abortion to you: should a 14 year old rape victim REALLY have to give birth to a baby?

(I don't think so, but you can if you want to) I think abortion is only o.k. if the mother is in danger- physically or physcologically.

My teacher told us this story about when she was teaching in Chicago about 30 years ago: (I'm parapahsing- but the story is true)

"Back when I was in Chicago, some of the students were not so privealged. It's agood thing we could live off my husband's salary-- Because we used mine just to buy paper and pencils. The school couldn't pay for it & the students did not have enough money even for boots-- that inculdes the ones who came were there all year. Some had to come late & leave early because they had to help farm in the South.

Well, (she started getting a little teary) I remeber, when I was pregant with one of my children, there was a 12 year old girl in my class. (she was either 12 or 13) She was pregant with me. Her mother's boyfriend had raped her."

You can believe in what you want- but I thought I would tell you the story.

Hey purple girl!! You have a very good point, and I will respond to you, but I'm actually in a small business center in Moscow right now, and don't have too much time. Don't think I'm avoiding you, though!!

I'm back! And you can call me whatever you'd like, lamby-poo. Hahaha. wink.gif

I like being called kid. tongue.gif

Okay, so response, mind.

First off I am a very liberal pro-lifer. While I do feel that abortion should eventually be made illegal, we are not in a place right now where that is in any way possible. People are still having sex, and people will continue to have sex. The key to reducing abortion is education of SAFE sex and education about abortion itself. So, in short, I'm not really pro-life until we reduce abortions a great deal.

Now, education is my answer to everything. Education about sex, as well as education in every other subject. While one is filled with hope and knowledge, and is positive about the future, they'll understand that promiscuity is not so good. MANY girls have sex because they feel all they're good at is pleasing a man. With better education and support systems, we'll eliminate that feeling.

Now, rape is actually where I'm not so sure. A girl didn't ask for this, and after rape or anything like it you're very very fragile and hurt and you don't know why it happened, or if you asked for it, or if it's your fault. You keep running the thing through your mind and you keep thinking, however irrationally, about how you could have brought it on yourself. I think people in rape situations should have a choice. They are traumatized enough as it is, and shouldn't have to go through pregnancy and child birth.

If I got raped I would take the MAP, no question.

So I guess I'm saying I agree with you. tongue.gif
