The Rules.
These are the things you have to read. We will be checking, and you will be held responsible for the information here. We may not be the cops, but we do not take ignorance as an excuse. So here we are.
The Absolutes These are the rules that if you break them, I will rain down fire onto your character, strike them with lightening, do something bad to them until they die. Then I will have a funeral, and if you make another character and do it again, I will ban you from my site.Disobeying the Admins. As far as this board is concerned, we work together, a decision by one is by all. It's all discussed, it's all done behind the scenes. We have a three strike rule. We will know if you have a strike, we do keep track. There is no going back after your third strike.
Out of Character Fighting. We all love a little drama, but let's keep it between characters, okay? Handle your conflicts maturely; talk things out in PM. Failing that, PM an admin, and we will gladly help. If it comes down to throwing insults publicly, you may be banned.
General Pervyness. Okay, we all know there have been some instances lately of someone joining the board, not bothering to post an app, and soliciting members for some off-the-board adult writing. If this is you, go elsewhere. Advertise like everyone else, not in PM, not in cboxes. Not linking your name in cbox. Got it? If anyone you don't know asks you to RP somewhere else, report it to an admin IMMEDIATELY. Such a report will result in an IMMEDIATE ban. Period. The Generals These are the rules that are pretty basic, but there are exceptions. Basically, if you have an objection to one of these, PM an admin, and we will discuss it.Numbers. There is no technical limit to the number of characters you may play. However, the characters you take may not be in the same family or subplot as one another. Which means, keep it down to a reasonable number. If you can handle five characters, go ahead. But if it gets up in the double digits, you might be receiving a PM asking what's going on. Also, please try not to take more than one of the most popular canons, i.e. Piper and Paige, Sam and Dean, Buffy and Faith, Angel and Spike should not be played by the same person. You may be in more then at one time as long as you keep track and have it up in the time line plotting.
Activity. Stay active! That means if you're going to be gone for more than a couple of days, post in the away thread. Try to get on every day or two, just so the people you're posting with don't get frustrated or stuck, but we all understand the real life trumps imaginationland. We expect at least two posts a week, not a lot guys.
Drastic Events. We all know that rapes, pregnancies, and various other things do happen. But we don't want them happening left, right, and center. It will get old. So, here is the procedure for requesting an event: 1. discuss with the other party. 2. have BOTH parties PM the SAME admin. 3. wait for the go-ahead. And remember, just because you don't *know* that anyone is pregnant doesn't mean there aren't already five pregnancy plots going. Also, keep in mind that admins have full discretion over your application, meaning that if it's not in the subplots, we may tell you we have too many pregnant characters and your new original girl just can't have a bun in the oven. list of permission events: rape, pregnancy, death, car accident, murder, death The Basics This is the simple stuff. There's really no reason to argue with any of this, it's very cut-and-dry.Creating a Character. Register with a NON CANON name. Post applications for originals in the application forum. Do an audition for the canon of your choice. You cannot reserve a faceclaim. Once approved you can then put up your face claim and start playing.
Approval. You must have a stamp of approval on your original application before you are able to be moved into play. If you have a Pending then you will be PMd with the information that we are looking for clarification on. Again, staff talks in advance you can bet if you are being asked for clarification it's not by just one person. Canon only need a stamp after their audition to be approved.
Original Characters. We are not banning them. They are able to be played in any genre so you will only have to apply once for any original character. Staff will be harder on Originals. No Mary Sues. Make your character three-dimensional, because after all, no one is completely one-sided.
Rating. This site is rated R. This means that sex, drugs, violence, and anything else you want to put in is welcome. The catch? Put a "mature" warning label on the thread. This can be on the first post, or, if it takes an unexpected turn, at the top of the first post in which anything graphic happens. It MUST be obvious. Don't like graphic scenes? Don't read them. Don't write them. Fade to black always works.
Graphics Guidelines. Each character must have at least one graphic associated with it. This makes it easier for other players to visualize what's going on. The graphic must include an image of your character. Avatars are 100x100, signatures are no larger than 500x300. No more than two rows of four 100x100 avs in your signature, or 2 200x200 (ish) avs. Basically, don't stretch my board. If you stretch my board, your graphics will be removed without warning. If you need help making graphics, there is a graphics request thread located in the OOC forum. Also, NO STEALING! If the artist asks you to credit, then credit. If the artist doesn't ask you to credit, that's fine, but don't go telling people you made it yourself. That's lying, copyright violation, etc. and it's just bad, and I won't tolerate it.
Advertising. Should be kept to the appropriate forum. Discussion of other sites in the Cbox is one thing. Saying "go visit my site" will result in annoyed admins (see rule #1). Instead of putting a link to your site in your conversation, say, "My site is <name here>. Go look in the advertisement forum." Follow directions, post where appropriate, and we'll all be fine.
Changes. May occur at any time. We, the admins, have the right to update these rules. We may or may not inform you at the time, so make sure you scan these every once in awhile. Thanks for reading, and happy role-playing!
