IC;
It seemed that wherever Juri went, she had wandered into there by accident. Second day of school, she had floated into the band-room, a glassy look across her face. For a moment, she stood in the middle of the room, cocking her head from side to side as she surveyed the area. It was a typical band-room, with that dark colored carpet (spit would be absorbed, and never seen again!), a pair of pianos, stands and seats for all. Well, Juri assumed it was typical. Never had she been really interested in participating in a school-band, although music was a passion of hers. No, she would just stick to the piano and her voice. That was good enough, wasn’t it? She had also managed to play a good amount of flute, and French horn, but that was in her past now.

Deciding she was in the right place, Juri side stepped towards one of the pianos. It was an elegant, polished black baby grand-piano, by Yamaha. Slowly, she slid in front of the piano, and sat herself down on the hard seat behind her. With delicate care, she opened the front of the piano, uncovering the hidden keys below. Her fingers brushed against the ivory keys, pressing down various notes, in order of a scale, and then ending in a chord. It was automatic, without emotion or enjoyment. Then, she settled into song; a classical piece by Bach. The song was Minuet in G Major, to be precise. It was an elaborated piece, but stayed true to the song. Within the next thirty seconds, however, Juri had managed to butcher it into something only slightly like the well-known classical piece.

She rarely had the patience to play such songs. In fact, Juri was known to stubbornly play her own pieces, or else change them into almost unrecognizable pop-rock-like pieces, like she did now. For a couple of minutes, the song went on, before fading back to the original Minuet in G Major. End. Juri frowned, undecided on how she had played that piece. Could it be something worth working on?

Nah, it had mostly just been a garble of nothing. Standing up slightly, she tied her long, creamy sweater closer to her thin body. As she finished re-adjusting herself, she sat back down, ready to play some more. How would she change this song to suite her needs...

What a great day for robot-building, huh? At least, that’s what Felix thought as he carried his robot pieces in his arms through the school. All right, so it was a nice day, but he had yet to find a nice place to build his robot. The dorm was off the list, seeing as he shared it with Oliver and a.) Oliver didn’t really like it when Felix went off into his own little word and started building robots, and b.) friends were in and out of there around the clock and it was hard to concentrate. No, if Felix was going to work on his little baby, he’d have to find a room filled with peace and quiet. Should be easy in a private school filled with witches, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and shapeshifters, right? Mhm, totally.

He had managed to wonder into the right wing of the building, and eventually found himself in front of the band room door. Felix had only been there a couple times, to play the piano straight for about 2 hours when he was bored. Surprisingly, he could play so long and enjoy it. In fact, the teenager could remember be 9 years old and wanting to play all day long, never wanting to go to bed. His dad had to ban playing the piano more than an hour a day years back, though Felix would sometimes sneak off to their grand piano when his dad was at work. Of course, as he’d grown, it hadn’t been so much of a “child prodigy obsession,” though he could still sometimes get caught up and end up playing for hours on end until someone came in and brought him into the real world.

He pushed open the door and discovered a girl playing the piano. Immediately, the Valde recognized it as Bach’s Minuet in G Major--quite an easy piece. However, what was the original melody began to change until it was hardly recognizable, and Felix winced. It was being butchered. Of course, he sometimes messed up classical songs if he forgot some measures--he’d just make up something to segue into the part that he did know. Never did Felix dare rip a classical piece into shreds like she was. Frowning, he crossed the band room to the piano next to the one she was playing at. After she was done, he set his gears and odds and ends on the bench and sat down next to her. His brow furrowed as he finally saw her face, trying to figure out where he had seen her before…it was recently…Man, why couldn’t he remember? Felix was so good at analyzing, remembering…his mind was like a video camera of the entire world.

"You really destroyed that song," he said, his voice seeming quite upset. In a way, he was. Yes, Felix could be creative, and would compose random songs and such, but he didn’t really like it when the classical stuff was messed up--he was a bit neurotic that way. Still, she was a pretty good piano player, he had to at least notice that. However, his mind was not only on the ruined minuet, but on where he had met her. Wherever it was and whatever had happened, he knew that neither of them knew much about each other, and she probably had no idea about his quirkiness and his complete being-a-nerd-ness.

"Talk." Think.

Again, Juri closed her eyes, fingers travelling along the keys, slowly pressing down each note. She held them, hungrily, drinking in their sound, as if she thrived off the music. The notes were tuneless, plain and simple; just raw, pure notes, more or less in tune. So absorbed in the music was Juri, that she did not notice another presence move into the room.

As a general rule, Juri really did notice people coming and going. It was like a sixth sense or something. Maybe it was her extraordinary vampire abilities kicking in, Juri wasn’t ever really sure, but she could almost always rely on that special sense. Not this time. The moment the boy behind her spoke out, Juri gave a start, her hands leaning down on the keys, pressing forcefully. Bang. The noise was disastrous, yet faded quickly and Juri re-righted herself.

”Yeah, well what’s it to you?” She kept her back to the boy, for a few moments longer, quietly gathering the words within her mouth. Who was he, to tell her if she destroyed a song. In fact, it was more of personal opinion. To one, her music could be noise. It could be a masterpiece, or it could be a disaster. Finally, Juri turned around, with a prepared look of annoyance upon her face. However, that look quickly faded into narrowed eyes and a curious expression across her visage.
”Hey.” She turned around, leaning forward on the piano bench. He looked familiar, like she had met him somewhere before. Yet he was obviously younger than her, so much more. Well, a few years or so, but in Juri’s mind, there might as well have been a decade’s gap in between them.

Where else could she have known him from? The realisation hit her like an epiphany; sudden, without warning. ”Vlade? I think I’ve met you before.” No, it wasn’t his first name, but a last name was good enough. Either way, that meant she must have met him before. Where? Oh, yes. ”Dinner party, a few months back? I’m Juri Aleckseeva, if that helps any.” Hm. Yes, Juri could remember that dinner party. A gathering of rich and important vampires. It was evident that the party was to include the Aleckseev trio. Mr. Aleckseev and Mrs. Demidova had a lovely time. Juri did not, to say the least. In her mind, the night had started off as bad, and then worsened. By the time she left, that night, it might as well have been ruined.

Still wondering on this mystery, Felix hardly noticed her comment, which was really a question. He only snapped back into the world after realizing she had spoken, but by then it was too late to reply much, for she had turned around to face him and began rambling on other topics. Focusing his ears and brain into her voice, Felix felt, once again, that he knew her from somewhere; her voice was too familiar. You have no idea how…aggravating it is for Felix to not be able to remember something, to know something.

”Valde? I think I’ve met you before.” The teen’s eyes narrowed at being called by his last name. It really wasn’t his favorite thing to be associated with his family, the family infamous for its manipulation, evil deeds, and coldness towards all living things. Not exactly something you’d like others to view you as, right? As if he had to do this often, he immediately corrected her with his first name. "Felix." His forever analyzing ears were still paying attention, trying to figure this out. A split second before the girl explained, he knew it. ”Dinner party, a few months back? I’m Juri Aleckseeva, if that helps any.” Felix could still remember that night. He’d been forced to attend yet another dinner party thrown by his father. In rebellion, he’d ended the night early with a little stunt of his own. Felix smiled at the memory.

As fun as that had been, though, that had been the last straw for Felix, and it was apparent with his father’s rage. You see, Alexander always had a silent fury, filling up the entire room with this tension until you can’t stand to be within 10 feet of him. His eyes burned holes in everything they landed upon. As long as Felix had known this rage, he still hadn’t been able to get over it, so you can imagine he stayed up in his room as long as possible. Uncle Anthony had finally gone up there and told him he was going to the boarding school--Felix knew which one, for his father had been threatening him with it for months. When he had gone downstairs half an hour later, Felix peeked through the ajar door to his dad’s office, but didn’t even announce his presence. All he had seen was his father sitting at his desk, rifling through papers. As if he had a third eye, Alex looked up, caught his son’s eyes and locked his gaze, then looked down. Felix knew he had been serious.

It really wasn’t too bad. Private school challenged Felix just a little bit more, something he needed or else…well, he’d practically rip his hair out. He was trying to look past the faults of Venice. But, back to this conversation, which he was still attempting to answer without laughing. "Memorable night," he finally said, a little emotionless, that occasional Valde-coldness slipping out. Meanwhile, his right hand had absentmindedly drifted to the keys of the piano, which had been left uncovered, it seemed. It just started playing some random scales, adding rhythms, switching from major to minor to blues, the occasional arpeggio and chord. He had hardly noticed his moving fingers, though was analyzing his own music, making minute changes to make his playing sound just the slightest bit better.

"Decent piano," he thought out loud to himself. Of course, he said ‘decent’ because, growing up, Felix had played on pianos that could be called the best of the best. His father would have nothing more. To him, these pianos were like those little toy ones you bought for children that they just banged their hands on. Okay, not really, he had said decent, but they weren’t even close to the instruments he was used to playing. They would do, though. They would do.

"Talk." Think.

OOC;
...

IC;
"Felix." Yeah, that was his name. It sounded familiar to Juri, and it fit his face perfectly. Gosh, she could certainly remember that one night... It was a dinner-party that had become a disaster. Usually, most of the dinner-parties Juri were automatically considered terrible, but this one really took the cake. Honestly, if there was something worse than a pot of hot, saucy meatballs exploding all over the place, Juri would... Well, she wasn't quite sure what she would do, but likely it would be something life-long, and terribly unpleasant.

"Memorable night," Juri huffed, a little annoyed. "True that." She rolled her eyes, unwilling to continue remembering that occasion. It was actually pretty embarrassing. She hoped never to look in the mirror, and see her face splattered with bits of meat and sauce ever again. Nope, not even if it were a sexy, kinky porno video. 'Just kidingggg!' Juri practically screeched inside her head, a hand lifted to her mouth to briefly conceal a swift grin. There were so many dirty little things that went through her mind.

"Decent piano," To this, Juri could reply with only a round of strangled coughs. Yes, the rich would hardly think of this as much more than a child's practice piano. In fact, this school could be considered second-rate. If it were not harder to find, and much more willing to take her in, Juri was sure she would have found herself in some kind of an all-girls, vampire only, private school. She assumed Felix would have been stuck in the same scenario... Well, at a school for boys, of course.
It bothered her, sort of. Those with money had power. They could do what they wanted, and go about how they pleased. Those with enough money, and enough power could have their cake, and eat it to. There would be no consequences afterwards, no price too great to pay later on.

She and Felix, they came from the same breed. Power-hungry demons, bent on gaining even more power than they already had. Their families spent money as freely as water flows. Yet they also managed to earn like it was nobody's business. The Aleckseeva's owned some random company, catering not only to those with 'special' circumstances, as they liked to refer to it while in the presence of the general public, but normal humans as well. Juri never really bothered to check into what they really did, and honestly, couldn't care less. They had already threatened to pass on the company to someone else, more deserving apparently. Didn't matter. Juri wasn't interested. And she wouldn't ever be.

She shuffled over, leaving more room for Felix on the piano bench; much less awkward this way. It was obvious that this wasn't his first time playing on a piano. His fingers moved with grace, even though he was merely fiddling around, hardly playing anything serious. "So, you into music too?" Actually, Juri was a little surprised. The younger teen hardly seemed like the kind to ever want to play a musical instrument. He looked more like the kind of kid that would spend all his time in front of a computer, or behind a robot, doing lord knows what. And no, Juri didn't mean anything dirty, with that thought.
