Calypso's Wrath > F Deck > Third Class Galley

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 6 2007, 01:21 AM
The Third Class galley is amongst the other places aparently blocked off by tape and such, and for a good reason. Crew members have reported that the Ovens in the lower sections have a mind of their own, quiet literally! No cook wishes to to go near these ovens, but they will need to eventually...

Jolene enters from the Third Class Dining Saloon

She scanned the room as the three of them entered, looking for anything out of place. "Has the room been put to use since the victim's death?" she asked.

The first thing Jo notices on the ground is said body, looking almsot burnt to a crisp. Almost nothing of the boy or facial features, other than that it was a man and had a look of pure terror on his face, not one of being burned to death, could be seen. Next to him was the Oven, the front door open...

"No Ms. Harris, We've kept it blocked off so as to not disturb the scene." Commented Captain Smith...

Jolene frowned, bringing a sleeve to her mouth and nose. How foul. Still she knelt down to examine his expression. Usually someone who'd been burned to death didn't have quite so... stunned a look? Pain seemed a more likely feature to leave frozen in rigor.

She withdrew a pen from one pocket and gave the man a bit of a poke, an official looking gesture that had absolutely no other purpose than because she could.

Looking closely for other features on the corpse, she tried to determine if he'd been killed somehow and then lit aflame. Blood away from the oven, strange marks (aside from the burns) on the man... anything that might indicate foul play.

Upon closer examination, Jolene could see the expression really was of pure terror, and his body was not just set ablaze... it had been cut, hundreds of times. All along the body were sharp deep cuts, not viewable from a distance. The inside of the cuts seems to suggest he was almost burned from the inside out though...

What would really catch her eye though, was what appeared to be a crumpled up, half burned note in his hand...

Now that was odd... and disturbing, to say the very least. Who the hell would go to such lengths? What had done this? She gave the others a furtive look before gently relieving the note from the corpse's hand.

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 07:11 PM
The note was partially burnt, but looked to still be readable..

Burnt Corpse Note
Oh god, oh god! The screaming! it's so loud! I can't take it! The incessant banshee screeches! They're deafening! I can't take it! I've hidden hear to escape those... those things... but I can still hear the screeching. I can't... can't take it... they're getting closer... they're opening the door... oh shit... oh shit!

The note ends there, a trail of pencil lead streaming off...

Jolene read the note with a growing perplexed expression. If it weren't for the fact that there were a corpse in front of her, stinking and otherwise quite solid, she'd have begun to worry that this was some sick kind of hoax. Who wrote their moments of death in a frantic scribble? And screeching banshees? That was almost as unbelievable as an oven that came to life to fry its victims.

She slowly stood, turning to the captain.
"I'd like the full story, captain... and I'd like to be able to sit down with you as well, officer -- the more sides to this I can hear, the more likely we'll be to catch this killer."

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 07:27 PM
"There really isn't much to Say Ms. Harris. Our Master-At-Arms found the corpse like this, and we have been unable to determine what has happened to-"

The Captain was cut short by a sharp, high pitched screech from outside the room, followed by a loud scream coming from Frank in the Dining. Abula and the Captain rushed out the door to find out what was going on, but as they left, the door suddely snapped shut behind them and locked...

Jolene started as she heard the scream as well, hurrying after the two, thusly finding the door locked.

"What the hell is this?" she shouted, banging on the door. "This isn't funny!"

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 07:31 PM
Banging could be heard on the other side, as well as firing of guns. She could hear the voice of Abula and the Captain from the other side...

"She's not opened Captain, The door won't open!"

"Get her opened dammit! We need to get Ms. Harris out of there now!"

From behind Jolene, A groaning sound of metal came, along with a sharp smell of gas...

She heard the voices of the Captain and his security officer, but only peripherally. The sharp noises coming from behind her had caught her attention, so she turned -- slowly -- to see who'd been locked in here with her. Her hand went to her holster, loosening the gun, there.

Nobody else seemed to be in here... at least, nobody who she could see at the moment. The sound of the Dials on the stoves being turned on came over... and the covers over the stove tops blew off as the room seemed to glow a hot red...

And Jo backed up against the door, aghast. She'd had some bad experiences in the past, but this was something entirely new. Her hand scrabbled for the door-knob again, and soon enough she was pounding on the door. "Get me the hell out of here!" she called.

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 08:03 PM
"We're trying!" came the voice of Abula, as Flames erupted from the stove tops and began to conjoin from the different stoves, forming a large mass of flames that was taking the shape of something...

Jolene turned back to the stove-monster, hissing a curse. "Try harder! Something's fucked up in here!" What the fuck was going on? Had someone slipped something into her water or was she just going fucking nuts?!

It was anybody's guess as to what was happening, as the Fire seemed o take on a life of it's own and form the shape of a bald man made of pure fire, Opening his mouth and spewing flames overhead...

Quidel: 200/200

Jolene could only shrink back in horror. She was scared witless, but was unable to take her eyes off of the monstrosity.

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 08:31 PM
Quidel seemed to roar at Jolene, taking a swipe at her... (Jolene - 19, Burnt) and knocking her back, her head hitting against a Fire extinguisher...

The woman screamed in pain, though the cry was cut short as she clonked against the extinguisher. Talk about being in the right place at the wrong time... she was dazed by the impact, consumed with pain... not to mention the fact that her clothes were now unfortunately smoking and burning as well.

She dropped to the floor, hands over her eyes as she rolled in an attempt to put the flames out on herself. She'd deal with the Quidel afterwards, but it was no use putting it out if she herself was burning to death!

The flames were soon burnt out as Quidel prepared to attack again, more pounding coming from the door...

And Jolene crawled for the extinguisher, spotting it properly now...

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 08:56 PM
Jolene managed to grab it as Quidel spat out the equivalent of a flamethrower from his mouth which only managed to Knick Jolene's leg... (Jolene -8)

She twisted the key in the extinguisher, swearing like a sailor as she aimed the nozzle at the base of the apparition and sprayed.

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 09:07 PM
Quidel let out a large cry as he felt the spray of the Flame thrower attack him, causing maximum damage... (Quidel -93) ...but before Jolene could continue the Assault, the flames dissipated and fizzled out, any signs of Quidel having been here being gone...

Jolene: 73/100 (burnt)

Jolene remained where she was, half-propped against the wall and gasping against the smoke -- or rather, the oxygen-sucking tendencies of the powder from the extinguisher.

She cursed heartily again, confused as all hell, and moreover, hurting in only the way that third degree burns can hurt!

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 09:17 PM
The door was finally slammed open by the Captain, who's clothes looked like they had been ripped to shreds by a series of knives. He looked around, soon finding Jolene on the ground... "Ms. Harris, are you alright?"

Jolene: 73/100

The woman gave a pained groan, setting the extinguisher down and turning carefully to the captain. Things hurt less when she didn't move, so she tried to keep still. "F...fuck me." She seemed dazed. "Fuckin' oven did come to life..."

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 09:29 PM
The captain seemed to curse under his breath when she said that, as Abula came in Frank propped up against him for support, looking to the Captain, "Captain, we should get Frank and Ms. Harris to the ship hospital."

The captain nodded and looked to Jo, "Can you walk Ms. Harris?"

Jolene attempted to get to her feet, giving a thin, high whine as she tried to chomp back a cry of pain. She leaned against the wall and tried to recompose herself. "I could use a little support," she finally, grudgingly replied.

Posted by: Border Walker Oct 7 2007, 09:41 PM
The Captain grabbed ahold of Jolene's arm and slung it over his shoulder, propping her against him much like Abula was with Frank. "Just hang on," The Captain said as he began to walk out of the Galley a small spark of flame reigniting on the way out...

Jolene and Co. have left the Third Class Galley, for the Third Class Dining Saloon
