"makers of fine wands since 382 B.C," ollivander's is a narrow and shabby little shop with a window display consisting of a single wand rest on a faded purple cushion. inside the walls are lined floor to ceiling with thousands of narrow boxes which mr. ollivander chooses from when trying to find a wand to match each customer.

falsely rumored to be the most haunted building in britain, the shrieking shack is a favorite stop on any hogsmeade visit. however, the wails that were once heard emanating from this creepy building were not, in fact, ghosts. the shack cannot be broken into from the outside; it must be entered instead through a secret passageway, the mouth of which lies under the whomping willow.

THE THREE BROOMSTICKS.
a well renowned inn, that is quaint in size, but feels like home. it has a warm and comfortable feeling that you will love when you enter. it's always busy being crowded with hogwarts students and hogsmeade locals. you can order anything from fire whiskey to butter beer. but remember it's called fire whiskey for a reason. come enjoy the company of friends and meet the bartender, who always has a word of advice or two.

some way down knockturn alley lies borgin and burke's, the most notorious of the alley's shops, which specializes in objects with unusual and powerful properties, and particularly items that are both unusual and ancient. the shop is quite large, dusty, and dimly lit with a large stone fireplace.

THE HOG'S HEAD TAVERN.
located a block or so off high street, the hog's head inn has been a fixture of hogsmeade for hundreds of years. a worn-out wooden sign hangs overs the door, advertising with a wild boar's severed head leaking blood onto the white cloth around it. it's known for it cheapness, at least relative to the three broomsticks down the street, and attracts interesting clientele.

KNOCKTURN ALLEY.
just around the corner from diagon alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devote to the dark arts: knockturn alley. not only are the wares sold there a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well.

the ministry of magic is the governmental authority for the wizarding world in britain. the basic mission of the ministry is to keep the muggles from finding out about an entire culture of magical folk. it's a huge, complicated and inefficient bureaucrazy, just like most government orgazinations.

st. mungo's hosipital for magical maladies is the primary wizarding hospital in britain. located in an abadnoned department store in london, the hospital's healers treat wizards for all sorts of magical-related illnesses and injuries.

DIAGON ALLEY.
tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the leaky cauldron in London will reveal an archway which is a portal into diagon alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants. it is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the british wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there. consequently, the demand for space here is steep, and rent costs loads of galleons.

OTTERY ST. CATCHPOLE.
ottery st. catchpole is located in devon, along the otter river. other towns along this river include ottery st. mary and otterton. the town is relatively small. the burrow is located near the village to the south but is hidden by hills and trees. most muggles don't even realize there is a house there. on the other side of the village from the burrow is a fairly good-sized hill called stoatshead hill.

this neighborhood, located in little whinging, surrey, to the south-west of london, is where harry potter wll live his life in the future. it is full of neatly coiffed lawns and hedges, and streets of identical houses.

THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT.
the unpure are figuratively exiled to this area of london, a community reminiscent of the ghettos of world war two. this area is a hub for crime, prostitution, and drug trafficking. although the people who live here may be considered lepers, those of the 'pure' society finds themselves here, searching for a good time. the brothels around here are professional and secretive, and the patrons can come and get their fill without fear of being found out. the conditions may be anything but livable, but i dare you to try and stay away.

this small town is the old stomping ground of the infamous albus dumbledore, being named after one of the four hogwarts founders -- godric gryffindor. the town is small and quaint. quiet to say the least. little did they know that destruction would soon arise.

this is a very modest establishment, decorated without much mizazz or style. there is a warm glow about the place, a feeling of home and safety within the headquaters walls. all discussion and planning takes place here, as well as numerous rowdy order member dinners.

DEATH EATER HEADQUARTERS.
much more lavish that its order of the phoenix counterpart, the death eater headquarters is decorated in a very dark, renaissance style with a deep green draping and gold trimmings. there is a coldness about this place, a feeling that evil is always lurking. but what else can you expect?

DORCHESTERSHIRE.
this is the place where wizards go to escape the wizarding world after a hard day. the area is upscale and modern with night clubs and bars galore. the shopping is formidable as well for the woman who wants a lovely new dress to show off her figure. dorchestershire allows for an escape through alcohol, dancing, and the occassional go-go dancer. come and relax your bones here, relieve your stress, go absolutely crazy.
