So here she was again. Sitting in that same diner she'd been sitting in the day things had started to change. Things had gotten so weird after she'd left this place around this time last month. Her crutches occupied the empty space across from her. She sat looking at a lone cup of black coffee sitting in front of her. Not really smiling, but she wore a pleasant expression on her face. She was comfortable here. For one reason or another, there was one place she felt completely safe in and this was it. A murder could have been taken place outside and still, she wouldn't have moved from her place at the table. She wouldn't have even noticed. This place wasn't clean, it wasn't extraordinary, and its food was... well she didn't dare eat too much. Variety at Paulie's never tended to be a good thing.

Today was a good day... well it had been. Of course it was night when she'd decided to venture from her house. Driving with a broken ankle hadn't been easy, but there weren't too many people driving around at this hour, so she'd gotten away with it. Besides, the police had better things to do than stop a woman who was driving a little bit too... sporadically, like stopping the city from burning to the ground. She looked around the diner with interest. She was alone except for a few waitresses who sat around, filing down their nails, and the cook out back. The light over Andy's head flickered slightly and a few flies buzzed by, not really bothering with her cup of black coffee. Her attire had changed slightly since her cast had been plastered around her break. Instead of her usual jeans, she'd had to trade them in for skirts. The one she wore now was a jean skirt with rips and tears over it. She wore a baggy grey sweater and a pair, or rather one, grey leg warmer on her leg without the cast. Her black converse, brand new and without a single scuff, looked almost strange in contrast with her rather bohemian attire.

Her bag sat beside her, filled to the brim with her normal things; keys, papers, receipts, manuscript, a few dollars, and a brick. The brick had been a new investment. Actually she'd stolen it, but it was for her self-defense and she wasn't really interested in paying for it. Reaching one hand into her bag, she pulled the manuscript, her manuscript, out of the bag, lay it out on the table and stared at it.

The cover page was plain. There was no title, there was nothing. It was just a page, but she pulled a pen out of her pocket, clicking it a few times and then she just stared. This was her baby. The first book she had ever finished that hadn't ended with everyone dying. Her agent was going to kill her, but she didn't care. This was her own little project and whether the three hundred page work was published... she really didn't care. This had been written for her and her alone. She doubted anyone else would understand it, but she was going to take it to her agent's office tomorrow morning anyways. She knew Adrian would like to read it if he ever came back. He'd disappeared a little while ago, but she hadn't been upset. He'd come back if he wanted to and she wouldn't be angry with him for his disappearance either. She wasn't that type of person.

She just wished she could scrawl a title, will herself to officially name the thing. But she couldn't. She knew if she sent it in like this, her agent would bitch and whine and complain, but she also knew that she'd probably also pick a title herself with the publisher and she didn't want her to do that. This was hers and she wanted everything about it to be hers. Every little piece of it. So she needed to give it a name. But what?

Adrian had been gone for a few weeks, Frederick had sent him on a mission and he wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to find out, leaving the city to see what he could find out about all these new faces trying to take Aldenville. He couldn't wait to catch up on all that's been going on in the city including what Mr.King was up to and if they had found the witch, he managed to give away the crazed rogues location but whether Frederick had someone gaurding it or if they waited for him, was something he wasn't sure about. He walked eagerly through the streets not sure where he'd find someone, a familiar face. He left without informing anyone including his pack brothers and sisters, it was probably not the best idea to leave esspecially without telling anyone or when the city was at its worse.

His pace slowed down dramatically. The broken ribs started to act up again, he wanted to cough but the pain was too much, it wasn't easy getting the information from people who didn't want to give it away or kill you for asking. It seemed that something here was attracting these dark figures, maybe it was the witches' council or all the supernatural politics a lot of messed up things have been going on here, the pack being blamed for that witch murder, vampires breaking the boundries. The city was falling deeper and deeper into a hole that no one could pull it out of.

The pain rang through his entire body. Adrian knew he looked a mess, his clothes were worn and dirty and he had a few scrapes but they didn't concern him too much he could go to the hospital and have it checked... The hospital. Andrea! He'd left her in the middle of the night with a broken ankle and hadn't even warned here and he didn't contact anyone including her. He was mad at himself for leaving her when she needed him the most but there wasn't much he could do, this was for him to do alone, for his pack, his brothers, the only family he had. They needed the help and that meant leaving her to fend for herself for far too long. He stomach grumbled, if there was anything that could go wrong it would be his hunger, getting food right now wouldn't be a problem. It seemed that Frederick and Andrea both had to wait for him.

How far was anything to eat? He didn't really know but he did recognize this part of town particularly well. He was close to Paulies and right now a big monster burger seemed like the fitting thing for him, he couldn't bare the pain from his hunger, he already was bruised, battered, and broken. Adrian tried to be quick, turning at the light now on the same boulevard that the greasy diner was on but still, not in view he trudged on, tired. He hadn't slept in almost 3 days and that caught up to a werewolf, it was more than likely the reason for his hunger, Adrian mentally kicked himself for not taking a break when he had the chance but it wasn't the point, he knew he had to get here as soon as possible. His buisness here was important and now so was his personal life.

For what seemed forever he walked, his strife was greeted by the light up diner which from the looks of it seemed to be basically empty except for a figure he didn't bother to make out. Right now, all he wanted was that burger and maybe a place to rest for a few weeks but he would do well with just the food for now. Adrian reached the building, letting his body lean on the wall, it wasn't like the wall minded and he needed to catch his breath, his ribs were healing but still they hurt like hell and he wasn't exactly at top conditions or somewhere safe to heal, pushing himself from the wall after the breather he kept on to the door falling into the nearest booth, calling over the waitress, "3 monster burgers and the largest possible cup of Coke," he called to her, his voice hoarse. He looked over to the shapely figure writing. She looked so familiar but he didn't catch a glimpse of her face. He let his eyes clothes breathing deeply, 'I need a vacation.' he thought to himself.

Andy drummed her pen against the thick pile of paper which was her manuscript. A name, a name, a name... She thought deeply for the longest time that she realized an hour had slid by without her even noticing. It was about then that she heard the door open and Adrian's voice called out, ordering food. But no... It shouldn't have been him. He was gone. He had disappeared, quite literally, right in the dead of night. She whipped her head around and, swearing at the top of her lungs, spilled the remainder of her coffee across the table. She managed to grab the copy of her precious book and held it over her head, out of the way of the potentially devastating spill. She was safe. She jumped up from her booth, kicking over one of her crutches from the other side of the table. They crashed to the floor and she was left wobbling on one leg, stumbling precariously until she got her balance.

"Adrian?" she asked in disbelief, peering at him through squinted blue eyes. He looked like hell, but then again... he didn't really because still beneath all the roughed up appearance, he was still, she had to admit, sexy. Still sexy and still beautiful. Now how was that fair? That he looked better than her and he'd obviously been through some sort of hell? "What... happened? Where'd you go? Are you alright? I called you... every day... Did you have your phone?" She looked slightly hurt then, but was obviously trying to put forward her obstinant character and hide it.

She hopped over to him, looking at the cuts over his showing skin and imagining what his worn clothes were hiding. "God..." she murmured, "What the fuck happened to you?" It was rather funny watching someone who was so unable to keep her balance, try to balance on one foot. She wobbled, even despite her best efforts to stay upright, but in the end, she fell into a booth next to them. It was better than the floor. Indefinitely.

"But uh... before you say anything? Can you just... do you do that a lot? Leave town? Cause a little warning would have been nice... If I weren't so dense, I would have thought you were dead or something... but instead I thought you just... got bored with me..." she admitted sheepishly, running a hand through her hair as she set her finished book down on the table, mindfully and like it was the most precious thing in the world. "I was sort of worried about you..."

His eyes half closed, Adrian didn't remember a time when his eye-lids were as heavy as they are now but he could wait to sleep, his hunger was a priority and he could always sleep later. The figure had shouted out some sort of curse words, her voice was familiar, more than famliar it was comforting. He looked at the shocked woman and suddenly felt a pain in his stomach that wasn't the hunger. It was Andrea and he'd left her after her injuring, letting her down. She probably hated him and he didn't blame her; what he did was cruel and inconsiderate but it was nessacary. The city was a dangerous place and was becoming even more so with each passing day. It was important to figure out how to quell the up-rise of monsters joining the city's worst.

Adrian really didn't know what he was going to say to her, she was probably going to ask where he was and the wounds that covered his body weren't going to be easily explained either, what was he going to say to her, He fell down some stairs on his way back to the city? It was a stupid idea, "Hi," he managed to choke out, he was nervous and out of breath. This probably wasn't his most out-standing moment. She looked pained, it was his fault. No way it could be anyone else who had hurt her, "I forgot my phone at home, I'm sorry," his voice barely above a murmur, he couldn't look her in the eyes. He was ashamed for leaving her without warning.

She was certainly hammering him with questions and half way through the 3rd degree, she fell into the opposite side of the booth, he tried to lift himself up the seat but the pain in his ribs stopped him from making a move to see if she was alright, "Well, it's a very long story," that was the best he could do for now, he could always be honest but the reaction you get from people when you tell them you can become a gigantic wolf capable of tearing them to pieces was usually not a positive one, "I went out of town for some buisness, ya know? Music," he took a deep breath trying to stall for time, "than I lost my plane ticket and had no way of contacting anyone and didn't have enough money for a bus here so I was hitching and along the way I got into a couple of tumbles outside the city," he finished with a deep intake of air, he gritted his teeth. It hurt his side to breath deeply.

"I'm sorry Andrea, I usally don't do that but this was important and I had no way of contacting you, I did a lot of recording and communication to the outside was limited," He went to reach for her hand with his, looking at her with a weak smile, it was all his face could managed to do, "I didn't get bored of you and next time I swear you'll be the first person to know," he lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it tenderly, "I rarely do leave town on buisness, it's not always music though sometimes my brother needs me to check out things for him, his being a doctor keeps him busy and sometimes he has patients outside the city that need check-ups and I'm well educated enough to make a proper diagonsis or see how they're improving from certain illnesses," he kissed her hand again, this time savoring the moment her skin was so soft, he'd almost forgotten.

There was nothing he could do to make it up to her, leaving her when she needed him the most, after their time alone and moments of near intimacy. She didn't even seem mad and all she could do was think it was something she had done and actually sit there and tell him she worried about his safety, Adrian felt like a jerk for doing what he'd done, "I'm sorry for worrying you," was all that he could really say, not letting her hand free as they place the large pint of coke on the table.
