One of my major uses of PE discs is to move all folders and files from the boot drive into a single backup folder. So far I've had to add the tricky and bloated Windows Explorer to do it *fast*. I've noticed the Run.. dialog file browse window also moves folders just as fast. You can only do one folder at a time with Run.. though. Micro$loth must be cheating in some way to be so much faster and succesful with these kinds of file operations. I've noticed most third party file managers are slower and do not always copy all the files correctly (or stumble on an abnormal file or system protected folder).
My question is: Are there any utilities to _move_ all folders and files to a single folder? A console utility would be cool but really anything would be better than loading up bloatware Windows Explorer. |

Thanks for the response Jaclaz.
It does seem that SameDir copies files - not _move_ files. I'll take a closer look though. Maybe I missed something <shrugs> |

Yes, you are right, I overlooked the question, usually "backup" means make a copy, not move. Sorry
Some other ideas to try: Miniexplorer http://www.geocities.com/casablanca2000in/msp/ Synctoy: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en Filemover: http://mattcollinge.wordpress.com/software/file-mover/ http://www.endpoint.eclipse.co.uk/wordpres...mover-setup.exe jaclaz |
