Welcome to the level roster. Here you can claim some slots for your custom levels to go in. It doesn't matter if you haven't claimed a slot yet if you're already working on something, but do claim one before you release it! tongue.gif

Three strokes (---) denote an open slot that you can claim. At this point you can claim either a slot from one of the four main worlds or from any of the user episodes. Try and claim a slot that reflects your level's difficulty, and please avoid claiming a slot with several empty slots either side of it. It doesn't matter too much at this point, but let's try and claim them in numerical order. This would make the incomplete episodes playable from slot 1 to the final slot without having to resort to warp cheating. tongue.gif

The boss levels (level 20 in each world) are already reserved by me, but that still leaves you ample opportunity to create a particularly dastardly level. Go nuts!

And with that said, on with the list!

This list is subject to change. Keep an eye on it at all times. Well, not all times, just regularly. wink.gif

* If you find all the spheres in a World you will be transported to the secret world, and to the level of the number of the world you just completed (e.g. World 2's secret level entrance will take you to Level 2 of the secret world). Since there are no ways to get to a secret level from World 5 itself, and the template map (MAP06) isn't included in the main WAD, Levels 5 and 6 for World 5 should be left out. This way, completing World 7 (User World 1) with all the spheres would warp you to World 5, Level 7, as expected.

I believe a change could be made to the S_MAPOPEN script so we don't have to have it this way, and instead have World 7 warp you to World 5 Level 5, and we could do away with the empty maps.

Im gonna claim the first user episode, under the name, UAC Paridise.
I've made 8 levels so far, do you need their names?

I haven't fully decided where my levels will go, but I plan on making a few for each world. smile.gif

I'm going to aim for level 6 in the Egypt episode. For now, it will be called "Climbing Pharoh". I just need to wrap my head around editing levels for this. blink.gif

Starscream: Sure thing. smile.gif Names would be nice, as well.

Seeing how your levels use a completely new custom tileset, be sure to submit them under "Tilesets". I'll then decide if the tileset is good enough to be used for the first user episode - and I bet it will! ohmy.gif

Dreadopp: I won't put your claims in yet since you're still deciding. Cool stuff, anyway. wink.gif

Lord_Z: Consult the editing documentation if you're unsure what to do. That has everything. As a second resort, ask here. tongue.gif

Ok, here are the level names so far:

Level1: Welcome to UAC Paridise
Level2: Blood And Gore
Level3: All Four Door
Level4: Top of the Imp
Level5: Bricks And Gaps
Level6: Leap
Level7: Boulders Of Doom
Level8: Dead Blocks

(Cookies to who guesses what level 5 will be like wink.gif )

I would also like to claim the boss level for this episode, as I have a good idea for what to do with it.

Level20: Kill Switch

Thanks! Done. smile.gif

Each user episode will only have 15 levels, by the way.

I've finished Level 16 and the boss level for Episode 1 - they are called Ooze Tunnels and Reactor Core. The boss level makes use of the new tesla coils I recently implemented, though I won't spoil anything else. wink.gif

Once Episode 1 gets finished (and there's now three slots available for you guys to claim!), I'll release a new version to the public. If you want your maps (for any of the episodes) included in release 0.3, get submitting! tongue.gif

I have a couple of quick questions for you Jimmy; First off, I am having trouble getting the proper theme to be displayed in my level. At the moment it is just using the default theme and I did not see a way to change it. How would this be accomplished?

The second thing (which may very well be related) is that I could not get the proper world and level number to appear. At MAP01, it is using the name "Template Map" and I tried changing the level number to 26 but it is using "Map 1: World 1: Terra". What is the proper method of changing the level number?

1.

If you're making a level for the main episodes, you shouldn't have to worry too much. The four different tilesets' functionalities will be exactly the same; the only difference is the textures/flats they use.

If you really want to use the Egypt tileset and map (for example) in your level, there is a way to do it, though it's probably more trouble than it's worth:

- (To be on the safe side - since this process involves overwriting and copying stuff - you should export the SCRIPTS lump you modified for your level/s to a text file, or just made a duplicate in the wad file.)
- Copy and paste MAP02 from the j-blocks2v02a.wad file to the template wad file.
- Overwrite MAP02's SCRIPTS lump with the template map's script.
- Re-compile and add the changes you made for your level/s.

I guess that'll work, but afterwards you might want to rename MAP02 to MAP06 or MAP07 something.

2.

I made the help screen header say "Template Map" for MAP06, but foolishly didn't take into account that it wouldn't show the Level numbers - very annoying for levelsets. D'oh. :|

Do what Starscream did (wisely tongue.gif) and rename the map to MAP07. It will show an incorrect World number, but at least you'll get the Level number/s. smile.gif

Sorry about all this bother. I really wasn't thinking this through enough when I was setting up the template map. sad.gif

I got some ideas last night for a level that should be interesting to make. I'll take World 4 (Hell) level 1 and 2 (the second might change to something later in the world due to difficulty. Once I release it, I'll let you guys decide where it should go). Level 1 will be called Brush Fire (;P) and level 2 will be called Corridor 4.

QUOTE (Jimmy @ Jul 25 2009, 11:42 PM)
(I)t's probably more trouble than it's worth:

Perhaps you are right, I'll just leave it for the time being. tongue.gif

I should have my level completed soon and a thread should be up for it later today. (If all goes well of course smile.gif )

Thanks Jimmy!

[EDIT]
Before I forget, is it OK to change the sky that is being used in the level or is it already assigned in each world?

Lord_Z: Hmm, never really thought about changing skies. They would be easy to change on a per-level basis. Would you guys really want something like that? smile.gif

Dreadopp: Just done. wink.gif
