Training, The mentoring Flurrypaw deserves!!

Pansytail took a deep yawn as she padded over to the center of camp. The warrior hadn't had much sleep last night, but it didn't faze her too much.

Taking one last yawn, she sat and began to groom herself, waiting for Flurrypaw to arrive for her training.

[Maplepaw]

A strong beam of sunlight crept through the entrance to the apprentice's den and rested on Flurrypaw's eyelids. She blinked them open lazily before emerging from her den with a yawn and a leg-stretch. A she-cat sat lazily by the freshkill pile, looking for somecat. Flurrypaw blinked the sleep from her eyes to realize that this was..

"Pansytail!," She meowed excitedly, "Training! Finally!" The snowy apprentice darted over to her mentor with a big grin, picking up a mouse to eat quickly.

"Are we training today?" Flurrypaw asked before taking a big bite of her freshkill.

Pansytail grinned at her apprentice's excitement. Even though she wasn't much of a morning cat, Flurrypaw could sure wake her up a bit.

"Yes, we're training," she mewed, taking a bite out of her rabbit. "So.. what would you like to do. Hunting? Battling? Anything else I've forgotten?"

[Maplepaw]

Flurrypaw's ears perked up and she smiled. Hmm, hunting would be fun. But I'd really like tolearn how to fight so I can protect the clan.

"Battling," the apprentice decided firmly, tail twithing with excitement. It had been the longest time t=since their last trainign session.

[Hazelmist]

Pansytail nodded happily. "Ok, battling it is," she mewed, standing up. "Follow me." The warrior stood and turned to walk out of camp.

[Maplepaw]

Flurrypaw bristled with excitement. She hadn't been this hyper in days! Swallowing the last of her mouse, she catapulted out of camp beside Pansytail. With one last lick of her lips, she turned to Pansytail with a smile. "Where are we going?"

[Hazelmist]

Pansytail shrugged, her heart flying high alongside the clouds. Free as the wind blowing across the WindClan moors; nothing could stop her good nature now.

The she-cat flicked her tail as she turned to Flurrypaw, blue eyes glistening in the sunlight. "I dunno," she mewed happily, trotting down the path. "I was just looking for a place with no distractions. Or twigs."

As they padded along some more, the warrior spotted the area she was looking for. Padding to side the side, she meowed to her apprentice, "Alright, now come at me. I'm a heavy-built, well-fed RiverClan warrior."

She crouched down, squaring her shoulders and hips. "So use your WindClan speed."

[Maplepaw]

Flurrypaw could hardly keep from falling over and laughing at her image of Pansytail as a heavy-built, well-fed RiverClanner. She looked fat and shiny!

Shaking her head and freeing the laughter from herself, she concentrated on her mentor. There was a tree about two tail-lengths behind Pansytail, and some bushes about a fox-length to her left. Maybe I can back her up into the tree, she planned, And then run and hide into the bush. This sounded okay, but the apprentice wasn't sure how she'd get Pansytail to back up.

Shrugging, Flurrypaw sped forward, keeping her body low and zig-zagging as Fleetpaw showed her how to do one day. This would make a cat hard to hit. When she was close enough, the she-cat swiped a paw at Pansytail, but hesitated as she wondered whether to use sheathed or unsheathed claws.

But, this warrior knew an opportunity when she saw one. Resisting the urge to fight as a WindClanner would, Pansytail spun around, storing her 'RiverClan' weight for the blow.

Not pausing at all to gain her bearings, she kicked out with her back legs, using all the momentum as a RiverClanner would on dry land. As Flurrypaw flew against the bush, landing not-so-gently, she gasped.

Shock flooded her thoughts. Had she really used all her strength?? "Flurrypaw, are you ok," she meowed breathlessly, rushing over to her apprentice's side. "I'm sorry, so sorry. Guess I got a bit carried away, eh?"

And in her concern, it never once crossed her mind that the apprentice might use her mentor's lowered defences to her advantage.

((*pokes last sentence* ^^; *shot*))

Flurrypaw "oofed" as the win was knocked out of her as she hurtled into the bush. Not seriously wounded, the apprentice took her time gathering her breathe. Then, smirking, Flurrypaw shot all four legs at her concerned mentor, knocking her away and knocking her off-balance.

Tail twitching excitedly, Flurrypaw leapt on her mentor and tried to pin the larger cat to the ground.

Genuinely surprised, the warrior showed no resistance as she was tackled to the ground. "Wow," Pansytail managed to breathe. "That was great. Make sure to use that when you battle: it's certainly one of your strengths."

She pushedthe apprentice off of her and the she-cat stood up. "Ok, now I'm a sneaky ShadowClanner. I use my surroundings, especially trees, to my advantage. Now, come at me with all you got!"

[Maplepaw]

Flurrypaw now imagined, her mentor as a ShadowClanner. Her pelt was smeared with mud, and she stank of crowfood and frogs. Pansytail's blue eyes were shirfty, and she was small and short-legged. The apprentice had to push her tail into her mouth to keep from bursting out in hysteria.

Then, crouching, the white she-cat focused her amber eyes on the prize. Her ears twitched everytime she made a pawstep, and her tail trailed straight behind her; not dragging, but not waving like a becon to Pansytail.

Flurrypaw circled her mentor, eyes darting around; looking for a place to strike. This could possibly confuse another cat, although the apprentice doubted that Pansytail would fall for it. The she-cat's amber eyes focused on a bush behind Pansytail where they had been circling, a perfect place to hide. Eyes narrowing, Flurrypaw worked on a plan.

If I can get Pansytail another quarter of the way around this circle without commotion, I can attack her and then disappear into the bush, ready for a sneak attack. Flurrypaw nodded; it was a good plan. And yet; if Pansytail saw the bush first, she had an opportunity now and later. Flurrypaw was in a timed predicament; if she waited too long Pansytail could use her advantage against her, and if she attacked too soon Pansytail would be closer to the bush and would be able to dodge and then hide.

However, Pansytail had another plan. Once she had crept close enough to the lone tree on the moor, she leaped towards it. Pushing with all her might, she catapaulted towards Flurrypaw, reaching out her paws to grab the young apprentice once she landed.

[Maplepaw]

Flurrypaw mewled in surprise, rolling to the side. She wasn't expecting to go on the denfense. Pansytail's paw (and possibly claw) slammed into her shoulder, knocking the apprentice off her feet. She winced as her head plummeted into the bush, and the branched whipped across her nose. Her eyes teared slightly as she got to her feet dizzily.

"Nice move," she panted, eyes crossed. She quickly shook her disoriented head, focusing her eyes again. The apprentice blinked, her amber eyes training in on Pansytail's blue ones. "Am I on the defensive now?" Flurrypaw asked, crouching in preparation to leap if need be.

"You are whatever you need to be at any time," Pansytail mewed, smairking slightly. "A battle will never be what you expect. But right now, no, as I still need to see how you would attack me." A breeze as light as she felt caressed the trees around her.

"Show me what you've got."
