Yes there are a lot of rules, but this is the only topic that will have them. I have also added a few guidelines in here that you should know and they will help you. Really, this site is pretty easy doing, this is just how the site works with all the extra character. You will need to know them and understand them since this site is a bit complicated but not to worry, this site is not as strict about post size as most sites. However, more is ALWAYS welcomed, even preferred.

For the Parents

This is a PG-13 site. If your son or daughter is under the age of 13 and still wishes to play here, they are more than welcomed to. But please do not get mad of the content in here, even though most of it will be kept at PG or even G, there will still be some pretty bloody fights as well as character contact. Though if there is any character contact that could go far, then the first post of the topic will have an OOC warning. If your child reads it, it is not our fault. Here is the warning that should be listened to. So little ones, ask for parent permission to be on this site. We don't want to be getting everyone in trouble now do we?

Joining

1. Your username must be the same as the name of your character. No exceptions. It would be nice if you put some thought into your name instead of using a typical name but it's not required. Well, if you're joining as a wolf anyway. Otherwise leave the Shadow, Socks, and Max names to the dogs.

2. One character per account. Do not sign up as two characters for one account. You have to have one account per character you wish to play. Yes, that would mean you would have to switch accounts in order to post for another character. Please try not to post in one account and then be posting for a different account that you are in. But it happens to the best of us. However, if you do this too often, you will eventually be getting a warning.

3. Do not join as a human. I don't care if this site has them or not. If you do not have permission to play a human then you are not allowed to play them and your account will swiftly be deleted. I don't care how much you want to play one, if you make one without permission it will be deleted. Don't bother asking to play a human either, by asking you won’t get one at all.

4. There is no limit on how many characters you are allowed to have. Just as long as you keep up with them all, I see no reason to have a limit. If you can handle fifteen go ahead, just keep up with your posts and please try not to keep everyone waiting.

5. Before you post anywhere, you must fill out a character application. Even then you must wait for an Admin to accept your application before you start role playing here. Usually, we can get to your application real fast, but if we are both gone you will have to be patient. If you do not think we are both gone, check the Broadcast since it would seem logical for it to be posted there as well as in the vacation forum. Don't worry, some how we will get the point across if we will not be here for awhile.

6. When you first join your name will be purple which means your application is still pending or you haven’t posted your application yet. Until your name changes into a different color other than purple, you are not allowed to post anywhere but in the application forum or in the OOC area if you need some help or need something from us. Read the rules before you ask though. Then we won’t have to direct you back to this page.

7. This site, for the most part, is a realistic one. That means no off colors. Eye color can be anything you want but as far as pelt color goes, keep it realistic. No purple dogs or wolves please.

General

1. Respect all members here, and especially your Admin. No fighting will be tolerated if it is not in character. If we see you constantly being the reason for starting fights you will be getting warnings and could even become suspended or banned. Really, just because a character is mean doesn't mean the player is mean too. I know I'm not all that back and most of my characters are evil little monsters.

2. You must post a minimum of fifteen (15) sentences per post. Ok, I know we all become busy or get writers block but fifteen sentences is not a lot at all.(Its true, even I can handle it.. -Spec) If you really can't post, then wait another day or so before trying to post again. I'm sure if you inform the other person you are role playing with that you are not able to post, I don't think they will be very upset. But if you don't contact them, then they might get a little bit impatient and leave the topic.

3. Keep swearing to a minimum. This is a PG-13 site so don't go swear happy. A few words are fine but if you swear in every sentence of every post then you will be warned, suspended or even banned if you refuse to follow the rules. If you swear out of character in a hurtful way to anyone, you will be automatically suspended. No questions asked. It is uncalled for and not tolerated.

4. Your character will age but it will be up to you to change the age. Otherwise, people will get confused so please, age your own character. There will be a reminder when the month as changed which could mean that your character has aged a year. One month is one fourth of a year so four months is a whole game time year.

5. Please have a picture of your wolf or dog in your signature. Do not use an avatar if you have a dog. If you end up using it and your dog gets a home, you will be informed and then sent the license for you to either put it as your avvie or next to your picture. This is so that your dog does not get picked up by the dog catcher again. Also include their gender, age and if they have a mate or not. Anything else you may want

Fighting

1. No power playing or god moding. You cannot control another player’s character without permission. If you get permission to do something say so in the post so and Admin doesn't contact you and give you a warning. Also, you do not know what another wolf is thinking so don't act like you do. This rule applies to anything and not just for fighting.

2. You fight until the other wolf or dog surrenders. Be realistic or an Admin might just come and correct your fight. Wolves and dogs get tired and eventually one or the other will win. Please don't argue if an Admin tells you that you cannot make a curtain move. We know how fighting works as well as when a character should be getting tired. We understand if your wolf hasn't exerted itself and when it has.

3. You must have a reason for fighting. Do not approach a dog or wolf and just randomly attack them. Unless your character has rabies but let's not get into that since that would be a complete disaster. So do us a favor and do not plague the site with rabid canines.

4. Your character can die. Sorry but some injuries cannot be healed and mended easily. If you do not take care of your character's injury then that is your own fault and it could cripple or even kill your character. Please do not argue this rule, it's here to make this a more realistic site.

5. Fill out an application BEFORE you begin your fight, not after. If you fill it out after or if you start before it is accepted, your fight thread will either be locked or deleted depending on our mood.

Breeding

1. Fill out an application before you actually do the whole breeding process thing. Wait for an Admin to approve it as well. Fill it out correctly the first time and we will have no problems. It's probably one of the easier applications to fill out.

2. If you are going to role play the mating then you must put a warning on the first post you make in that topic so that everyone has fair warning. You do not have to role play the mating if you do not want to. We actually prefer it if you don't. And if you do, then DO NOT get into detail. You will be banned! -wags fingure- We do not want animal porn... sickos.

3. A wolf can have up to eleven (11) pups and dogs can have up to fifteen (15), depending on the breed. However, you will not be deciding this number just like in real life. I will roll two die (three for dogs) and what the die say will be the amount of pups your character will have. After that you can decide the rest such as the gender and their color. However, the color must be close to that of the parents. And no, if a Doberman and Corgi breed they will not have Dalmatian puppies blink.gif (Dice will be used until I write up a program to do the job for us tongue.gif -Spec)

4. If you cannot get enough players to play your puppies then they will die. Some may be decided to die anyway since it is a way of life and another (single) die will be rolled to determine the number of still borns in the litter. If your character is a loner or a stray then the most pups that will survive will be at most three (3) not matter what. Well, unless the dog catcher catches your dog but for a wolf, there is no exception. If you do not get enough players and your dog has a home you can play the pups until they are about six to eight months old (two real time months) and play their adoption out to people that live far away. The other puppies that have players will play their adoption and have a license from the start. All puppies that have players will get adopted and you can play it.

5. Your character, the female one, will have a two weeks, real time, wait before she will have the puppies. Then you will wait another two weeks for them to leave the den, or open their eyes and ears, be able to walk around ect. Puppies will stay puppies until hey are a year old then they will be considered a yearling. After that, they will most likely go to subordinate.

6. You do not have to be mates to breed but for wolves it is most likly that they will be mates. However, it happens for them as well, just for dogs more than wolves.

Loner

1. Once your application has been accepted and your character is a wolf, then your tag will be changed to loner and your name will turn black. No you cannot be a stray if you are a wolf.

2. Loner's are not usually spotted in town. They can wonder into the country but they will not go into the city at all. If they do wonder into town, they could act skittish and will most likely stick to the very edge of the forest and hidden in the shadows. Please do not go roaming in the middle of town in broad daylight. Wolves would much rather prefer to stay hidden while in the same area as humans. Again, no wolves are allowed in the city. No exceptions.

3. You can try and get into a pack. Usually, the best way to get into a pack is by acting submissive. It really depends on the pack and the Alpha on how much you should submit. I would suggest reading about the packs before trying to join one.

4. Loner's do not usually find mates and if they do and have pups, most of them do not survive. Usually only one or two survive if that. So, if you want a successful batch, try getting into a pack first.

5. Hunting is very difficult. The most a single wolf could get is probably only a small rabbit or injured fawn. Otherwise, a single wolf cannot bring down a full-sized healthy buck or large prey. They would either be dead or spotted before they got close enough.

Hybrid (Wolf & Dog)

1. Hybrids are allowed. They can be what ever you want them to be, stray or loner. However if they look more like a dog than a wolf, the wolves your character runs into might not be the most friendly of characters. Also, don't make hybrids that are part wolf and part small dog. No, it won’t work. Please keep it that they are part husky or part malamute only since that is usually the case. Other than that, look into the other rules for where your hybrid would like to go. But if a hybrid looks more wolf and the dog catcher gets it, your character might have a tough time getting a home.

Stray, Pet & Impounded

1. Most strays are not allowed to enter the forest. Only mountain dogs are allowed to. Mountain dogs are the larger breeds of dogs and would be the most likely to survive. If your dog wonders into the boarders of wolf territory, the chances are it won't be coming out again. So, keep strays in the country, town or city.

2. The city is the easiest place to get snatched up and taken to the pound. You're character will be easy to spot and easily taken away. However, any stray whether they are in a dog pack or not, is not safe without a license and collar. If the dog catcher comes, there is a high chance your dog could be caught and taken to the pound.

3. Pets are the only safe dogs from getting caught. They won't be stolen or anything and not taken to the pound unless they somehow remove their collar. If they do that, please put that they have lost their collar in your signature.

4. Pets are dogs that are owned and not in a dog pack. If they do get into a dog pack, you will be given that rank as your title. Your license stays with you to indicate that you do have an owner. Each license has a different random address that you can create yourself when you get a home for your pups ONLY. Other wise your license will be whatever comes in my mind when your character gets adopted.

5. Being impounded is not a bad thing, it just might take a while to get adopted. When your character first enters the pound, they will have to wait one real time week before they are able to be adopted. No, your character will not be spayed or neutered. Let's just pretend that this pound doesn't do that.

6. Humans that are played go off of what typical humans would do. They usually have a mind set on what kind of dog they want and will look around until they find him or her. If there is a puppy there might be a good chance that they will all want to get that puppy and the puppy will get into a home faster than an adult. Be nice to the human that is passing by though. They could easily change their mind.

7. The pound will close eventually at night but that is completely random. If you are lucky and you know you will never be adopted then a pack dog break in. Sometimes pack dogs will come and rescue you if you were caught. Some are not that nice though. It is still hard to get out however. The dog catcher can come back randomly and spot the other dog. If you are caught in the pound, you will be put in it. The closing of the pound will last only a week so be quick about your escape, if you are lucky enough to get one.

Humans & Homes

1. You are not allowed to play a human at all. They are not even characters they are just there and not one plays them without my permission. Do not ask the answer will be no.

2. The Dog Catcher will be about all the time. There is only one but when he appears there is a good chance you will be thrown into the pound if you are on your own. Even if you are in your pack, the Dog Catcher might be lucky enough to get one or two dogs without a license. He can offer food, be nice to your character, or simply go after him. Once the Dog Catcher is in your thread you cannot leave. The best you can do is say you ran off then hid and if the Dog Catcher has said that they lost your dog, he will leave. But he can stay and keep searching for your character. The only way you can avoid him is if he give up or you already have a license.

3. The only dogs allowed in the homes forum are the dogs with a license. Really, it is just wondering around their home tome and they can go into a house if they want to and say it is the home of their owners. Pretend that this is like Lady and the Tramp and the dogs are allowed to move from house to house without bother as long as they have their license. Strays can walk by but so can other humans. If it is an adult human, they can take your character to the pound but if your character runs, the human will most likely not go after you but will inform the Dog Catcher and your character will have a target on their back.

I hope, that this was all. If I think of something more I will add it... later. If you think something should be here or you have a correction please feel free to tell me or post in the suggestions forum. Thank you.

~Niccy

Spectre's Two Cents

In addition to the rules and guidelines above, which are quite impressive I must admit, we have a little more to talk about.

Grammar & Spelling

When posting on these forums, please be as accurate as you can with your writing conventions. It makes it easier to read and understand what your trying to get across in your posts. I do understand that we all mess up from time to time, so I will not be dinging you for spelling 'the' as 'teh' the first, second, third time you do it.

"1337 Sp34k"

Being an ex-hardcore gamer I feel the need to bring up the subject of the once treasured leet speak. If you do not know what this is, don’t worry about it and just go on with your life. But for those of you who do, please don’t use leet speak. It is definitely not appreciated or welcome anywhere other than in this thread. Just don’t do it anywhere else, and everything will be fine.

Thanks for being a good group.

Have fun,
=Nate
