How Often You Can Post: Pretty much daily though I work upwards of 60 hours a week and 5 days a week I'm gone for at the least 9 hours a day.

How Familiar Are You With The Firefly 'Verse?: It's my bible
How Did You Hear About The BDV Site?: Some fella named GrimJack told me about it in a bar on U day, we then got in a fight with a whole bunch of Alliance loving purplebellies.
If you could 'cast' the role of your OC, who would play the part: Kelly Clarkson
What BDV ship/location do want to be assigned to: Route 66
Character Name: Theresa ‘Reese’ Foster
Character Occupation: Sweetheart extraordinaire
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Detailed Physical Description (2 PARAGRAPHS): Standing at 5'5" and 125lbs she is far from intimidating, her frame is not lacking in curves and appeal but is usually hidden in coveralls that do nothing to flatter her slightly chunky form. Her hair is a brownish auburn which helps to accentuate her big chestnut brown eyes.
Her preferred choice in clothing include coveralls when working with her hands but at all other times she chooses bright colours and is not afraid to break fashion laws in return for comfort. She prefers loose-fitting clothes that don’t restrict movement but at the same time don’t get in the way either. She prefers to keep herself covered up and doesn’t often show too much skin other than the odd tee-shirt when planet-side. She’s not a fan of skirts.
Her body itself is pale-skinned and flawed from many scars from past scrapes, all are barely visible and only one really stands out. A long slender line that arches in toward her belly on her left hip. The arch itself is no more than a centimeter making it look fairly straight and the scar itself is only a millimeter in width and is clean as if drawn on by a fine-tipped pen.
Detailed Personality (2 PARAGRAPHS) : Reese is a fun-loving girl but high in morals from her daddy’s upbringing. She is cheerful and friendly but not altogether outgoing. She can be shy and is much more at home around machines than large groups of people. She’s self-conscious about most aspects of herself which is attested to by her preference to hide her body rather than flaunt it. She is extremely empathic to others, feeling their pain as her own and tries to see the good in others.
While she follows much of what her father preached she doesn’t believe in eye for an eye so much as bygones are bygones. Despite her happy-go-lucky demeanor she has battled with depression and has spells of lethargy where she questions her self-worth to the point where she feels more a detriment than anything to others.
Detailed History(2 OR MORE PARAGRAPHS): Born and raised on Persephone to a preacher father and a chef mother. She has three siblings two older brothers Sean and Winston and a younger sister Bri. As far as siblings ever got along they were fairly close. Growing up she had a passion for music and art commonly found singing to herself in some secluded place or another or sketching some random object. She was talented in both but it wasn’t until her first time near a ship when she was seven that she found her true gift. She was a clever girl but not particularly thought of as gifted in school, a particular aptitude in math was her biggest claim to fame through public school. However during a school trip to an Alliance manufacturing plant to learn about the ‘wonders of space ships’ she fell in love with the aforementioned space ships.
Her life from then on became an obsession over the crafts, her artwork went from sketches of nature to sketches of compression coils and detailed blueprints of devices that didn’t exist. Her father took particular note of her fascination and when he was not off spreading the word through the universe had a side project building a shuttle with her and her brother Sean who she was particularly close to.
By the time she was thirteen she had a full understanding of ships which her father helped develop by bringing her any magazine or cortex article he could find on new and old mechanics. When they finally completed construction of the shuttle her father knew her talent was too great to be wasted and enrolled her in the most prominent school on technology in the core the Persephonian School of Design and Technology. She excelled and graduated in the top ten percent of her class.
However her post-University days with a job placement lined up were put on hold when two tragic events occurred. Her father disappeared with only a wrecked ship on a backwater moon to indicate what happened, no body was found but he was pronounced dead by the Alliance officials in charge of the investigation. Reese didn’t believe those reports and continued her own search for the truth long after the case was closed under suspiciously abrupt circumstances. She returned home to care for the family as her mother fell gravely ill shortly thereafter and was bed-ridden. Reese worked for a local mechanic as an assistant during the day and at a restaurant during the night to support her mother and sister. Her brother Sean had enlisted as an Alliance pilot and her brother Winston had long since moved off-planet for his own schooling. Both sent money home when they could but Reese was by default the main supporter of the family.
She made the meals and looked after her sister, making sure she got off to school with a good breakfast in her and helped her with her homework while caring for her mother who deteriorated by the day. Eventually Reese could no longer support the family and the family home was foreclosed. Her sister was left in the care of some relatives on Osiris and her mother as well went to Osiris to a care facility to treat her illness.
That left Reese to decide her own fate and no longer having to take care of her family opted to search for her father who she refused to believe was truly gone. She continued working on Persephone, living in a small and very cramped apartment until she put together enough credits to be able to travel and so began her search for her father. She joined a crew offering to work for them as their mechanic if they would eventually take her to the moon where her father was last seen alive. That never came to pass as they left her high and dry on a space station named Route 66. Without any credits to pay for a ride off she has begun searching for a job on the station itself hoping to one day commence her search once more.
Strengths (1 paragraph): Gifted with mechanics and electronics she has an inventive, innovative and improvisational mind when it comes to technology. She is skilled with a skillet, she finds cooking meals to be relaxing almost meditation for her. She has some skill singing though it would be hard to get her to sing in front of others she doesn’t want to be the center of attention. She has some ability to draw, sketch and paint. She can’t do masterpieces but if she takes her time her art is technically sound and she has an eye for proportions.
Weaknesses (1 paragraph): Her in a fight is a moot point she simply can’t fight, shoot guns, throw knives or anything of that nature. She’s self-conscious and self-deprecating on the inside making her not up front with suggestions or ideas unless they pertain to mechanics or electronics.
Sample RP (Oooops):
The nearly ancient vessel rattled as it drifted towards the station which it would be docking with soon. The hull battered and burned with obvious signs of a space battle. Inside was a crew that resembled highly the ship in which they traveled. Captain Keesha Maynard sat at the helm piloting the craft herself while the other members of her crew attended to their own responsibilities.
Perch was patching up Evans and Becks who each had been hit by shrapnel during the assault, Becks was unconscious while Evans was screaming until he was doped. Perch left the two men in the infirmary, heading towards the cargo bay. A torch could be heard and the clashing of metal on metal could be heard from the largest compartment on the ship. Once in the bay Perch saw the young Theresa Foster welding what was once part of the floor onto the hull, tools strewn around her as she finished the final weld on the heavily damaged ship. She turned off the torch and began packing her tools into a purple tool box which came complete with her name ‘Reese’ hand-painted on the front along with flowers, butterflies and a smiling sun making it seem less a toolbox than a lunchbox one might have owned as a child.
”You done?” Perch questioned with indifference as he walked past her. She jumped slightly, startled by his unannounced presence before turning and smiling.
”Yep, I got the hull sealed quick enough we didn’t lose too much air and if th’cap don’t mind one tile missin’ on the floor we won’t need to spend much on repairs. I even rerouted the arteries away from that part of th’hull and linked them through the floor which in the long run will make th’ship run more efficient like.” She beamed, though despite her excitement Perch moved right past her to one of the crates only taking one quick look at the newly placed panel.
”Looks like go-se.” He chirped as he cracked open a crate and pulled out a small box and shoving it in an olive green sack along with two other boxes like it. Reese looked to the panel and admit to herself it wasn’t as good as new but it was functional and it was the best she could do with what she had to work with.
”Well sure it ain’t look so fancy as it could but none of us got sucked out in t’space an’ I could fix it up proper given th’right parts.” She smiled broadly an action, which only garnered a sneer from Perch who went up to the bay doors and peered out the window as the ship made it’s ascension onto the docking ring. A hard jolt confirmed they had docked and soon the ships maw opened up to the station. After routine docking procedures were completed Perch and Reese stepped onto the station.
”Don’t be wasting any time now, you get done what needs doing, sign off for that equipment on the list the captain gave you and get your pe-gu back aboard.” His tone didn’t hide his malice towards her but she had learned in the last month to take Perch and the rest of the crew with a grain of salt, it was a hard life in the black and she suspected too long out on a ship would make her grumpy too. She only nodded at the grouch and went her way.
As soon as her back was turned Perch changed directions back to the ship. Putting his hand up to his ear which had a comm. Planted firmly within the lobe.
”Alright the girls off. Lets get moving before she realizes what happened. Our cuts just got a whole lot bigger dumping her.” Perch said with the first forming of a smile since they had finished the job.
”Get back on Perch. Before I change my mind and dump you instead.” Maynards voice is heard spouting back to him.
”Right. Dump your medic, she was expendable once Becks heals. Mechanics are a credit a dozen, who you gonna replace me with on the raggedy edge?” He snickered as he boarded the ship again.
”Let’s just hope her patch job lasts us until we hit planetside and Becks wakes the rut up.” Maynard spoke as Perch sealed the ship and it undocked, leaving the station and the young engineer behind.
Reese meanwhile was at the supply depot selecting parts and writing an order within the budget given to her. As she brought the order sheet up to the till she read it over and made sure she was within the limits. Upon confirming she was she set the sheet on the desk.
”Hi, um I have this order to place, here’s the docking stub for the ship it needs to be delivered to.” She fumbled around in her pocket until producing the slip and setting it on the desk. The clerk smiled and took the slip running it through the computer not once but twice before looking to Reese with a perplexed glance.
”I’m sorry miss but records are showing that ship left dock only minutes after it arrived. Are you sure that’s the right one?” Reese didn’t know what to say, there had to be some mistake. She waited a moment before bursting out of the place and down towards the docking port. Her fears were confirmed when the ship indeed had already left. Not only had they left her behind but they had taken with them every possession she had brought with her and all the credits she had in her room. Her account with the bank had enough to eat for a few days but she was effectively stranded. She wondered what she did wrong to have them leave her like this. If she only had done a better job patching up the ship maybe they would have kept her. She wiped some tears from her eyes and made her way through the station finding an eatery where she sat in a booth, fighting unsuccessfully the tears that purged the clarity in her vision. She lost her ride, her belongings and above that her chance to find her father. How was she going to recover? She felt like such a failure.
