WHO ARE THE ADMINS?!?!

The Admin Team consists of Ertia , Synthia Lyndon Heller (aka Dave) and Jax Malone. But wait! Who are Jonestein and GrimJack? GrimJack and Jonestein are our original founding fathers. They are currently retired from active admin work. Then what's that BigDamnVerse account I see pm-ing people and and making posts? BigDamnVerse is a master Admin account that allows the Admin Team to act as a collective. Don't PM it, because we never check it for PMs.

CAN I BE AN ADMIN?

Umm.. No. Sorry.

WHO PAYS THE ADMINS?
The Admins don't get paid, except in ducks. In fact, we shell out about $100 a year to keep this place running. So, next time you need something ASAP and there's no Admin around to do it? Please keep in mind that we all have to work real jobs, and have real families that require our time. :)

WHO ARE THE MODERATORS AND WHAT DO THEY DO?

The BoardWide Moderators are Dr Pain, Jeth Fiction, and Taokan and Marcus Deckard aka Jigman. They can edit your posts for you, delete duplicate posts, act as go-betweens between you and the Admin team, help approve character applications, and, basically, do all the scutt-work us Admins never get around to.

The Thread Moderators, Oath aka Eleanor Lee for The Shangren, Jeth Riddle aka Barry for Route 66, Comrade Charlie, aka Nate for the Sherwood, and Zira for Kasern, have all the powers of the BoardWides but only for their threads.

The Editor: Comrade Charlie is the board editor and the keeper of the Lists. If you need characters added to the Comprehensive Character List, or tech to the encyclopedia, Charlie can help you out. Charlie also has full edit priveleges and can edit posts, delete duplicate posts, etc.

The Moderators and Editor are here to help your BDV experience the best it can be, however, they do not deliver coffee and croissants, and although they might make you a sandwich if you ask nicely enough, try not to expect miracles. :)

Again, the Moderator positions are unpaid. They do their jobs out of love for the BDV so please be patient if we can't get to your requests and questions right away.

CAN I BE A MODERATOR?
Moderator positions are assigned according to the needs of the board. When a moderator position comes open, the Admin Team reviews the performance and interactions of all the board members to find the right person to offer the position to.

HOW DO I KNOW WHO PLAYS WHAT CHARACTERS?
The easiest thing to do is to check the Who's Who Page for a current list of what players have which characters.

WHO DO I CONTACT TO GET A CHARACTER ON A SHIP?
That depends on which ship you're looking to gain passage aboard. Each ship is led by a specific person/group of people and you'll have to run your character concept by them first. Check out the Casting Call to see what roles need to be filled.

WHAT ABOUT CONTENT RATINGS?

The BigDamnVerse strives for a "PG-13" equivelant browser rating. We welcome players of all ages (We've had players as young as thirteen) and we work to make this a safe and comfortable place for them to play.

There are TWO exceptions: The Heart of Gold and The Ares Shield are both labeled as containing Adult Content and are marked as such in browser keywords. You can expect to find adult material in postings in both of those threads. Please don't use them as an example of what you can get away with other ship threads.

Posts containing material that is felt to be beyond the official rating for it's thread will result in an Admin Request for alteration. (This includes use of the F-word!) If a scene is borderline and could fall on either side of the line, the Admins will add a red "Contains Adult Content" to the top of the post, but will leave it unedited.


ADDENDUM: IT'S IMPORTANT TO RECOGNISE THAT BROWSER RATINGS DIFFER FROM MOVIE CONTENT RATINGS! SafeSurf (www.safesurf.com) covers the various ratings and how they effect our browser labels. I frequently run our board through the rater, and adjust our 'content tags' when necessary.

How do I add an avatar?

Click on "My Controls".
On the left-hand side, you'll see "Edit Avatar Settings" . Click on that.

You can either use a preset avatar that we have in our board avatar collection, upload a new avatar to use, OR link to an avatar that you have hosted on an image hosting site such as Photobucket, Imageshack, or Ripway.

Avatars must be no more than 175x175 pixels.

If you want something special, and don't have the skills or software to do it yourself, place a request in "Ye Olde Sig-Shoppe" down in Badger's Den. Someone's always willing to pitch in with shiny pictures.

How do I add a Signature Image?

First, you need to have a signature image uploaded to a hosting site, such as Photobucket or Imageshack. If you don't have an account with one of these sites, we do have a BigDamnVerse photobucket account, and any admin or moderator can upload an image for you.

What if I don't have a sig-image?

Down in The Corner of Else & Where, down at the bottom, in the Badger's Den forum, you'll see a link for Ye Olde SigShoppe- You can place requests for signature images there, and Ertia or one of our other madlete image fiends will happy whip you up something.

I want someone else to make my sig. How big can it be?

To keep page-loading fast and simple and to prevent stretching the 'frames', we like to keep sig images under 200 pixels high and 600 pixels wide. Ertia usually strives for 200x500, but 150x600 can look sharp and not slow down page-loads.

Please make sure that the person you have doing your signature work is not using the original artwork of someone else without permission: For example, using one of EleventhHour's Firefly designs without her consent.

Okay! I have a sig and I have it on a hosting site! Now what?

In your control panel, on the left hand side, click on "Edit Signature".
In the URL box, paste the direct link to your hosted image. It should appear in the control panel page when it's linked in correctly. Now you should have a shiny new sig!
