Opinions Please!

'Serenity' has always been our most complicated ship to run. We all love the canon characters, but we all seem a little afraid to play them. :) The above suggestion are just a few of how we can pan this out, and if anyone has ideas and suggestions, I would love to hear them.

I know Dave has wonderful ideas on where he'd like to take River, and I'm rather enamored of Inara and Mal, personally. But I really want to get everyone's opinions, thoughts and ideas. This is YOUR site, too! You all play here and you all deserve a say in what happens with our flagship.

I like the idea of more character centric episodes, where things are happening to specific characters rather than all of Serenity (although you still need one of those every once in a while). An episode like Jaynestown where we get a lot of insight into one or a few of the characters and the rest are relegated to supporting roles. This is something that we don't seem to get to do as often on the other ships, because we always want to include everybody and have ship-wide events, but I think it would work well with Serenity and help narrow the focus.

Also I'd like to add that I might be willing to play Book if nobody else does. If somebody is interested in playing Wash, I might also be open to trading one for the other.

I don't know how much my vote would count, but I would love to see more action on serenity. As bad as it all sounds even though we love the original characters a bunch wasn't the purpose of this to go our own way with things and do our best to keep it close to what they would be doing. I know everyone wants to be true to the original characters but once you take those characters out of the actor’s hands they are no longer the originals.

I agree with Kendrick about the risk of strapping the characters out of its original domain, however, this is a roleplay board and like with a screenplay room, we create the fate of characters and the storylines and such. I do like the idea of episodes surrounding particular characters but I don't think you can base a roleplay on that alone.

I voted for the first one (with a bit of the last one but you can't vote twice) but honestly, I'd say that the characters themselves were given a lot of space to grow by the The Joss so if someone wanted to go further with them, make them better or worse (keeping faithful to the basics yet going beyond), I don't think anyone could mind. We have some extraordinary writers on this board and I think they could do some real justice to the canon cast .

Maybe you guys could have sit down on how you see the characters growing or something (behind closed doors) and then decide how you wish to take it. I mean, it should nearly be equally important for the players to have a say in this as it for the admins.

Also, it looks like the clear winner is going to be the "break it out" with the intensive character episodes.
If everyone could email me their ideas on what they'd like to see happen with their characters, I'd be mucho appreciative! :)
