So, yeah, what other shows or movies and stuff you guys like? Are we all pretty big fans of fantasy here? Anime? Comedy? Basically, rave about your favourite things! Who knows, we could discover a fun new thing. Sharing is caring. smile.gif

Something I'm really digging now is Adventure Time - a fun show about, well... having adventures. It rocks! It's hilarious, the animations fun and cute (evoking a spongebobby feel with it's randomness and face-pulling), the characters all totally awesome, and it's REALLY hilarious. It can also be quite touching at some points too.

And there's also a technically-evil immortal prankster character who may or may not have tension with a girl who wears a lotta pink. Just, you know, throwing it out there. Also, she SINGS. Wonderfully, too.

So yeah, anything anyone?

Never heard of Adventure Time, sorry. sad.gif But I do have some favorites at the moment.

I don't know if you heard of The Walking Dead, but I'm pretty obsessed right now. Basically your typical zombie apocalypse but with a more character-driven plot. You watch how the characters change over time as they deal with the changed world around them. Oh, and they're not afraid of killing off favorite characters. There's one in particular I JUST KNOW is going to get it soon. There are a lot of people who are fans of him, but seriously think its time for him to go. He's too unstable for the group!

Another one is The Tudors. You've heard about Henry VIII and his six wives right? Well, it basically chronicles his life as he goes through each one of them. Well done historically, except for one inaccurate point about the Reformation. They bring in many other historical characters, like Thomas Moore (he's my favorite out of all of them). Makes me want to dress up and go to court!

On the animation end, I've recently gone back to watching Ouran Host Club and several movies like Tangled, Howl's Moving Castle, oh, and Gnomeo and Juliet (its okay, but its quite the Elton John love-fest when it comes to the music. love the story though).

Well, you should definitely check out AT anytime you're feeling whimsical. Or even if you're not. It always brightens my day right up.

I have heard of The Walking Dead but I haven't been inclined to check it out. Zombies aren't really my thing. They so scary. Unless it's co-op mode on Silent Hill on Wii or Shaun of the Dead. Then it's fun. biggrin.gif

My sister was way into Tudors a couple of years ago. She had the biggest thing for Henry Cavill. So, I've seen some of it. One thing I can say, it's really addictive. I couldn't stop. I wanted to, but couldn't.

Oooh, I have seen Ouran and enjoyed it. I've contemplated cosplaying Haruhi at many points. Maybe I'll actually go through with it this year. And Tangled, oh Tangled, I enjoyed you. The animation was so beautiful and it was so fun and -sigh-. Gnomeo and Juliet I enjoyed because it was such an Elton John music-fest. biggrin.gif Studio Ghibli films are simply divine. My favourite's Princess Mononoke (which anyone should check out if they haven't), though Howl's Moving Castle is pretty up there. Have you read the Howl's Moving Castle book? Gotta say, Studio Ghibli did it more than justice.

Yep, I'm an animation junkie. It's one of the things I'd like to do with my life - someday create beautiful things like those.

More on animation, how about those good ol' Disney movies? I've just rewatched Tarzan so all I wanna do is go on and on about how amazing it is. The ridiculously enchanting animation, the care and detail they put into animating Tarzan himself - the way he moved and GAH. Also, the chatty and awkward Jane who's so adorable and enchanting in all her chatty awkward glory I just can't stop grinning. And the animals - so good! And the emotions! Guh, never though Phil Collins would make me cry like a little kid when I'm not a little kid anymore...

How about video games? We videogame peoples? Not gonna lie, Final Fantasy X also makes me cry like a little kid.

My little sister is addicted to the Assassin's Creed games. She's even made an outfit out of chain mail and soda tabs and created her own post-apocalyptic version of an assassin. She also created a group on Facebook with the people we met last year at a convention and created a really fun game of "tag" assassin style. I think we played it until 3 or 4 in the morning throughout the convention center one night during the con.

I don't play it, but I LOVE watching her play it. The storyline is so fascinating and heavily entwined with history. We're history junkies, so that definitely grabs our interest!

Assassin's Creed (2?) was very fun for the 10 mins I played at my friend's. I am now needling said friend to let me borrow it. We'll see where that leads. tongue.gif I also enjoy history (though, probs not to the junkie status), in particular ancient history, even more specifically the greek/roman republic/empires.

Oooh, we got an RPG fan here. I really liked Chrono Trigger, the time travelling thing was so cool. FFVII is the only FF I haven't played, oddly enough. And Lufia, yes Lufia. I've seen some of the Persona 4 anime and I got pretty curious about the game. Maybe you've played it, is Persona 4 worth it?

You know, if you enjoy RPGs and Star Wars, have you ever heard of the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) games by Bioware? They're on PC and they're very, very fun. Actually, pretty much anything by Bioware is very, very fun.

FFVII is totally famous ohmy.gif It was my first FF since I always looked at the others and didn't see what the big deal was. I eventually played several of the others in their GBA remakes and liked them, though VII is still by far my favorite. I liked that it was sci-fi, a nice change from the usual castles and knights of the earlier FF games. I highly recommend playing it.

I haven't seen the Persona anime and 3 is the only one I've played. I had lots of fun with it. a large part of it plays out like a visual novel, you talk to characters, make choices that affect your relationships with them and unlock events. The other part is a classic turn based RPG with the main objective being to get to the top floor of a tower with occasional battles in other parts of the city. In terms of the RPG part it doesn't have that many places to visit and you can only revisit the tower for levels and such. It's still lots of fun especially if you like the part about interacting with other characters and seeing their reactions. So really it depends on what you like. I'm not sure how different Persona 4 is from 3.

I've heard about Knight of the Republic, though I haven't played any yet. I probably need to upgrade since I haven't done that in a while.

My first and (favourite?) was FFX, which was more of a fantasy one. I also enjoyed VIII and IX a lot. Gotta admit though, I'm a bigger fan of the castles, knights and junk but sci-fi's always good too. I'd check FFVII out because, whoa, it's really big in the FF franchise but I don't know if it'll really live up to the hype - or if it's just the nostalgia talking. I'm sure it'll be decent either way.

Cool beans, maybe I will check out Persona. If you liked that sorta visual novel-ness/character relationships in Persona, I think you will enjoy the KOTORs - it's got a pretty involved story and cool characters to interact with. They're also pretty old-ish games (2003, 2004) so it's not the most demanding in terms of technology. I've got a 2 year old Dell studio that works just fine with it.

I've been curious about FFX for a while. I hope they put up a re-release on the PSN that I can get for the PSP. They did that for the PS1 games and I think that the PSP can handle PS2 games by now.

FFVII was the first for the PS1 and it was different with it's sci-fi, plus it was the first one to use polygons rather than sprites in the FF series. That helped make it more famous I think, though I think it does have a good story on its own and I like its adventure style more than the school themes of FFVIII, though I did like VIII.

I've been meaning to replace my ram, I'm down to 2GB right now, but I could go to 4GB if I remember and quit procrastinating. My computer is actually pretty old, I got it... I think it was April 08, but it's still in great condition for how many hours a day I put into it, which is usually 5 or more.

I think they're actually planning to make a HD remake of FFX for the PS3. Which would be sweet.

Upgrades are the good thing with PCs. One thing's not working? Oh, okay, replace it. I've been thinking of cobbling together a custom one whenever I've saved up enough. Laptops can be a bit of an all-in risk. My laptop's been heating up way too fast to be healthy so I gotta get it cleaned out before everything melts or something. I always feel kinda edgy when I'm working on a big project.

Aw but I don't have a PS3 D: I only have a PSP right now.

I'm a big of a back-up freak constantly putting copies of everything in USBs even when the PC looks fine. XD It's semi-custom so it turned out to be very good despite it age, albeit I limited myself to the parts I could locally find, it's still better than the usual package deals most brands offer.

I'd like to be a back-up freak but there's only so much I can do with just a 4GB USB. :/ Maybe I'll invest in an external hard-drive with the way my laptop's acting.

Word. It's generally a better deal to do it yourself if you know how.

So, what do you run on it? Windows? Mac? Linux?

I don't have that many things to back up. I mostly watch anime on You Tube and similar sites so I don't keep it on my computer. I have a bunch of screen shots, a few programs such as GIMP, etc. and my fanworks. All of it fits with plenty of room to spare in an 8GB USB.

I use Windows because it's so easily compatible with many programs, though I like Mac best. I've only used Linux once and liked it, but it seems more challenging than the others in terms of compatibility. I've only owned Windows though, the others I used in class. How about you?

I've got a windows laptop which I use for gaming and drawing and all-round entertainment. It has so much crap on it and getting really full so I gotta do some spring cleaning soon.

I've also got a cute little netbook that runs on Linux (Ubuntu version something or other) that I use mostly for and to school ('cause my other one's so heeaaavy). Linux makes things so much easier for when I'm coding with it's terminal and command lines. And most of the software that does work with Linux is usually freeware so, plus!

Macs confound me. I just, it's so... SHINY. I get intimidated. I've never used it on a regular basis before. It's been said often that it's the best platform for creating digital media so I've been thinking about trying it out. Buuut, they is so expensiiiive. covereyes.gif

The Mac's shininess is part of what catches my attention, plus they're more secure than windows, but then again, pretty much everything is more secure then windows.

Oooh, zing.

Yeah, the mac interface is really pretty and shiny. It's so smooth. I like the sliding thing it does when switching between programs/desktops. It's a very neat way to attractively arrange desktop clutter.

All the systems are slowly getting cuter, but Windows seems to get slower or need more ram for the better looks, which still don't compete with Mac. XD

OK I've been meaning to post here, but going over every bit of stuff I've gone into fandom craze for is just endless.

Sadly (or happily?) I've not been much into anime for quite some time and, double-sadly, never got into videogame as I should, because I'm too easily addicted to those damn little time-consuming devises of hell...

And I'll not go into technological devide complaint ramble. Won't do it. It isn't good for my health.

So the only one thing I'm going to mention here is my all-time favorite show best-story-that-ever-existed and other-fancraze-comments: Berserk, by Kentaro Miura.

OK. Maybe I have for this anime a little over appreciation, but storywise, might be the best in my opinion. Going to detail about the whys, the awesome characters with intrinsic psychological complexity, the down-to-earth approach at realistic social background and underlying themes including but not restricted to power struggle and political weaving, existentialism, abandoment of social class, darkest of human behavior left unwatched and flawed notions of fate, as well as simple need for affection and love and the tragedy of human existence and others... well, I can't be bothered.

...Man I love that show *puts Gir dog face*

Um... btw, have any of you heard of Captain Simian and The Space Monkeys? Second favorite of all times, but in comedy. Along with Slayers, plotwise.
