Welcome to the world of Chicago...
a world of bright lights, tall buildings, cold weather, and a unique population of people. But more importantly- welcome to Belmont Avenue, one of the most popular streets in Chicago.
It’s home to one of the most prestigious academies in the U.S.- Blackwell Academy, School of the Arts: the school with the most extensive application process. It's a school specifically for those interested in the fine arts. Parents and students alike are willing to do just about anything to get accepted. You have your cliques, the nerds, the jocks, the players, the bookworms, the preps, but try balancing your studies and the social life you’re expected to keep. Appearances are everything. Do you have what it takes?
And if the academy isn’t right for you, that’s fine. A little down the road is Elmwood Park High School. On the outside, Elmwood appears to be full of nice, smart kids with a love for learning, who didn’t have the means for getting into the academy. But, if you dig deeper, you’ll see that the walls of Elmwood Park High School hold many secrets. The students take part in illegal activities; gambling, sex clubs, and drug parties. Gangs rule the student population right under the noses of the teachers and parents, most of which are unaware that anything is wrong. Can you survive this kind of environment?
Tension has escalated over the years between the academy and the high school. These schools are the complete opposites- the academy with those with money and brains, and the high school with those who are street-smart and fearless. The rivalry between the two has gotten so bad, you don't want to encounter a person from the opposite school- at nighttime or daytime. Harmless pranks have led to deadly fights.
But, maybe high school has come and gone for you. Maybe you’re ready to step out into the world and live your own life, make your own decisions. Maybe you’ll own your own house and settle down and start a family. Maybe you’ll rent yourself a cheap apartment and party your life away. Maybe you’ll open your own business and strike it rich, or maybe you’ll stay in the background, swept away by the come and go of the city.
