The Tale So Far

September, 1741:

Madre de Dios, a Spanish galleon loaded with gold, is on her way back to Europe with her convoy. But an ambush lies in wait for her in the Inaguas – the Sea Hound is planning a bold assault on the larger ship, her pirate crew willing to risk it all for gold and glory. NPC Bio

Name: Samuel Webb

Nickname/Alias: Webb, Midshipman Webb.

Age: 16, almost 17

Gender: Male

Rank/Occupation: Midshipman aboard the Steadfast

Appearance: Thin and gangly, occupying that awkward stage between boyhood and manhood, Webb has disheveled brown hair, brown eyes, and an infectious grin.

Personality: Webb is a good-natured, confident fellow, with a happy outlook on life. A reasonably smart lad, he is a quick and efficient petty officer, though he occasionally incurs the wrath of his superiors with his tendency to bend the rules and poke his nose where it doesn’t belong (also, he can be damned cheeky from time to time). When caught, however, he always takes responsibility for his actions, and never lets anyone take the fall for him. Loyal, brave, and useful to have around for just about any task that needs doing, Webb is an important cog in the machine that is Steadfast’s crew.

Bio: Webb was born in London as the second son of a tailor. His father made decent-enough coin, often tailoring the uniforms of officers in the Navy, but remained a common member of the lower urban class. It was always understood that Webb’s older brother Harold would inherit the family business, but Webb Sr. maintained had hopes that one day, one of his sons might have a chance to wear one of his finely-tailored uniforms as a member of His Majesty’s Service. Young Webb entered into the Navy aboard the vessel of one of his father’s patrons as a volunteer. He spent several years as a cabin servant and then as a volunteer first class, before being made a Midshipman at age 14 and transferred to the Steadfast. Due to his lower birth, Webb has slim chances of ever gaining a Lieutenant’s commission, but he remains optimistic about perhaps obtaining a commission as Master’s Mate someday.

Anything Else: Has a cockney accent that betrays his lower origins. Occasionally struggles in mathematics and navigation, but tends to pick things up reasonably well.

Example Appearances: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Often Played By: Jennifer, Nyell, Lei, Steadfast Crew
