Name: Jack Kildare

Nickname/Alias: Jack (of) Trumps

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Occupation: Pirate

Appearance: Jack has light brown hair and piercing brown eyes and is fairly tall, with scars over his body from years of labor and piracy. He is not that much into fashion, wearing only what is comfortable to him. Tanned from years as a sailor, he has a twinkle in his eyes that many a woman has fallen for. That twinkle has still gotten him in trouble to this day.

Personality:
Self-confident, cocky and often brash, Jack is a man of action. Life is never dull around this greedy rogue. He has a penchant for trouble and more than anything, he loves a good time. He is friendly, but his friends aboard know that he is flimsy and they cannot always count on him in need. Drinking, gambling, flirting, starting bar brawls, are just a few of his favorite activities. However, he never cheats at cards. If he wants something, he will find a way to take it… and if what he wants happens not to be a material thing, then his ambition to be better than others comes to play.

He does his job properly because he loves the sea and he knows that only a well cared ship provides the needed safety. He can be impulsive and has a quick temper but he thinks before he speaks...if he isn’t already drunk. He is a notorious womanizer, having at least a love in every port, which gave him also the nickname of Jack of all Hearts. As it comes to women he might tell you that he can’t help it if they like him it’s their choice, but he is just more careful about who he sets his flighty affections on nowadays.

Bio:
Born to a poor baker and his wife he is one of three surviving children the couple had. His mother died in childbirth while giving birth to his youngest sibling. The rest had died in young age or infancy. His father had been taken to debtor’s prison and Jack and his siblings were taken away and all were forced into indentured servitude. Jack was too angry and saddened when the family was torn apart. A cruel plantation owner had purchased Jack from Jamaica to serve in the man’s household, while his siblings had other masters. He has no knowledge of his siblings’ whereabouts and hopes one day to find them.

However, as young Jack grew from a lanky 13-year-old boy to a handsome 20-year-old man the mistress of the house took notice, flirting with him whenever she could. Jack continually denied her advances, until one day she threw herself at him when the master walked in on them. The mistress quickly changed her tune and told her husband that he had advanced on her instead. Jack denied this thoroughly, but the master would not listen. After receiving a severe beating he decided to run away.

He escaped in the night stowing away aboard a smugglers’ ship and after being discovered he eventually became a part of its crew. With them he got his sailing skills, fighting skills and his cards skills as well… The crew was mostly English, but the ship used to have a Dutch flag, because this was the most convenient in the area, allowing them to anchor in any port without raising suspicions. And the business flourished, the ship was always loaded with sought goods… one fateful day, raising the pirates’ greed. It’s true that the “Merciless” hadn’t any important prey lately, and if this Dutch ship didn’t appear their way, a mutiny aboard the pirate ship would have been possible. But the attack was successful, the damaged ship was sold in New Providence and the smugglers were forced to choose between becoming pirates and dying. And Jack of Trumps preferred to live.

He didn’t mind risks, as long as they brought more money… to have and to spend, so he adapted quickly to a piracy life. After about one year and a half aboard “Merciless”, a confrontation for supremacy took place between two pirate ships… and “Merciless” lost, getting sunk. “The Sea Hound” succeeded to save the pirates and the loot they had aboard, giving the literal meaning to the expression “jumping ship”. Jack was among them, but in the three years since then, most of his former crewmates had died in several battles. He was lucky enough to live… and he celebrates it in any port. Life aboard “The Sea Hound” is not bad at all, it provides excitement, action, money … what can a pirate want more?
