Welcome

Welcome to Beat to Quarters, a Play-by-Post Text Roleplay set in 1741. It's the Age of Sail, and also the Age of Piracy here in the West Indies. The wind's a-blowin' and the sea awaits, so prepare for adventure...

The Tale So Far

September, 1741:

Madre de Dios, a Spanish galleon loaded with gold, is on her way back to Europe with her convoy. But an ambush lies in wait for her in the Inaguas – the Sea Hound is planning a bold assault on the larger ship, her pirate crew willing to risk it all for gold and glory. But Sea Hound is both predator and prey, as the HMS Steadfast closes in for another encounter with her quarry. The deadly showdown between the three forces is fast approaching...

I'll be taking a much needed holiday from 23rd June to 03rd July and I'm very excited about it, as we'll spent the first few days at the annual maritime week in Kiel (up north in Germany) and on Saturday, we'll not only see the tall ships parade, but also participate in it!

Can you imagine that, me in an actual tall ship, surrounded by more than one hundred windjammers? We're even allowed to help set sails, pity though that we're not allowed up in the rigging for safety reasons. I'm so excited!

Unfortunately, I won't have internet access while away, but I'll tell you all about it once I return and perhaps I can upload a few pictures, if you like. Here's one from the official site:

I'm having a very busy week so if I'm not around much, I'm sorry. I'm trying to get so affiliations done and I've been working on updating the story but I've got to take a break. The regatta wore me out, along with a number of other stressful events.
