Welcome to Beat to Quarters, a Play-by-Post Text Roleplay set in 1741. It's the Age of Sail, and also the Age of Piracy here in the West Indies. Will you fight for King and Country and uphold the law here at the edge of colonial civilization? Or will you pillage and plunder to your black heart's content? The wind's a-blowin' and the sea awaits, so prepare for adventure...
September, 1741:
Madre de Dios, a Spanish galleon loaded with gold, is on her way back to Europe with her convoy. But an ambush lies in wait for her in the Inaguas – the Sea Hound is planning a bold assault on the larger ship, her pirate crew willing to risk it all for gold and glory. But Sea Hound is both predator and prey, as the HMS Steadfast closes in for another encounter with her quarry. The deadly showdown between the three forces is fast approaching...

Absence Reminder:
So, we all have lives. And we understand that a lot of you lead busy ones, filled with school, work, and family obligations. Sometimes these obligations mean you just don't have the time or energy to post. And that's fine! BtQ is supposed to be a fun place and a hobby, not a chore. That said, if you are going to be unable to post less than once a week, we would really appreciate it if you could post a note to that effect, just so we know what's going on and so the people you're posting with won't be waiting around for you. It's courteous, and it keeps Lioe and I from worrying that you may have been hit by a truck or abducted by aliens or something.
Thanks!

Up to now we've been posting NPC posts from our character accounts. But this has been a little confusing, especially in threads where character posts and NPC posts happen together. To make it easier: From now on, if you post for an NPC, please use a separate NPC account, like this: NPC_playername. E.g. my NPC account will be: NPC_Lioe. Use this account for all your posts for any NPC. To make clear which NPC you are posting for, please include the NPC's name at the top of the post. Either by adding it as OOC information, or by mentioning the name within the first sentence or first paragraph of the post. ( Information also posted here.)

The Steadfast crew roster has been updated to a complete list of all men aboard. Also marked on it are the watches and division in to gun crews. That might be useful story-wise at some point or not, but the information is now there. Any NPCs named in posts will be added. There's also an explanation of the watch bill system in the resources forum. Comments, complaints or suggestions are welcome. Edit:And the new Sea Hound roster is up, too.
