Name: Patrick Michael O’Malley – a name only used by those who have a definite death wish
Nickname/Alias: Alias: Fingal, Nickname: Finn

Age: Unknown – he just doesn’t care (about 24)

Gender: Male

Rank/Occupation: Occupation: Pirate, rank: Rigger

Appearance: Tall and sinewy, Finn does not appear an overly athletic man with his long, slender limbs. What he lacks in strength though, he makes up for in agility and speed. His shoulder-length black hair is always tied back loosely and kept out of his face by a headband, topped off by a somewhat battered hat for ‘formal ‘occasions under which piercing blue eyes mockingly watch their surroundings. He is clean shaven and of surprisingly fair complexion given his tropical surroundings. Given descent clothing, Finn would almost look just like any other respectable working man except for his pierced ears, usually adorned with silver loops. Finn might even be considered a good looking fellow where it not for the slight lopsided sneer that he’s almost always wearing on his face (whenever it does vanish, danger is imminent). He has an assortment of clothes all gleaned from the bodies of his victims which therefore are never new but well kept.

Personality: Finn is not somebody to be messed with. In fact, to say that he is untrustworthy would be a gross understatement. He lies, steals, cheats and sooner or later backstabs all those foolish enough to think he is their friend. And there are quite a few as he can be VERY charming and convincing whenever it suits him. He has a single-track mind for his own well-being and pursues his own happiness relentlessly, stepping over all those in his way without any regret or moral inhibitions. In short, he’s a bastard through and through.

He has a somewhat different approach to women than his comrades as he likes to stalk his intended prey before he moves in – a habit that leads him to forego the easily available pleasures of the whores and simple serving girls. Instead, he seeks out the well to do, educated, often married women of high social status. The more difficult his target is to obtain, the better the hunt.

Bio: Finn was found as a toddler on the doorstep of the church of “St. John the Divine” in the Irish quarters of New York on Easter Sunday morning. The nuns of the adjoining convent saw this circumstance as a heavenly sign and took the infant in, naming him in honor of St. Patrick and the archangel Michael and giving him a common Irish family name – although whether he is really of Irish origin is anyone’s guess . He soon proved to be anything less than a little angel and more of a handful than the nuns could manage and so by the age of six (or so) he found himself in one of the town’s workhouses.

After several years of hard labor, attempts at running away and severe punishment after recapture, he had learned everything he needed to survive on his own. He had also found out that in some situations it is easier to escape when the person you’re running from cannot pursue you anymore. When he was sold into indentured servitude to a New York merchant upon reaching adolescence, it took him only a year of constant abuse to decide to put that theory into action. By the time the body of the merchant was found, Finn was well out of town.

Soon after, he found refuge with a lone priest who showered a bit too much love and affection on him for Finn’s liking. The bright side was that he educated Finn quite a bit and taught him to write and read. In the end, he caught Finn stealing the gold encrusted cross of his own church and of course, Finn then was obliged to test that theory of his once more.

He was about sixteen by that time and without a true prospect in life: a thief, runaway and wanted murderer. The chances of survival on land grew dim on him and so he decided to try his luck among his own kind and join the pirates. He hitched several rides on many vessels (and on three occasions, crewmembers went mysteriously missing when they stumbled upon him) and finally settled in the West Indies. Here, he soon found out that he had a natural affinity to work up in the masts and the rigging. Sure-footed, agile and with no fear of heights whatsoever, he is now, at the age of about 24, one of the best riggers around. At the moment, he’s quite content with this position, but as he has had a recent (and quite bloody) falling out with the captain of his last ship, he's currently looking for a new ship in the port of Tortuga.

Birthplace: Unknown, found as a toddler on the doorstep of a church in New York

Family: None whatsoever, and if there were, he’d make sure that it wouldn’t stay that way

Skills: Cunning and quick-witted, Finn knows how to get what he wants and matches his intelligence with the agility and speed of his body. He can make a weapon out of almost anything and while not too skilled in a direct fight, puts whatever he has on hand to excellent use in back-stabbing, vicious slashing, throat-cutting and limb-bashing using his natural abilities to keep himself from a direct (fair) fight. His preferred weapon, however, is his beloved Russian pistol which he keeps with him at all times. He uses his charms and good conversational skills to lure people into doing things they’d rather forget about afterwards.

Weaknesses: Apart from the previously mentioned vices, Finn is quite arrogant and possesses a wild kind of humor, often mocking those around him merciless. Whenever he loses his humor, however, things can get pretty ugly. He has a temper that once provoked won’t stop at anything. It can get him into trouble fast as he then acts completely reckless while most of the time, he is on guard.

Theme Song: Smooth Operator by Sade

Anything Else: Finn has a black cat which follows him around everywhere (more or less). Probably the only female that he has got attached to.
