Welcome

Welcome to Beat to Quarters, a Play-by-Post Text Roleplay set in the early-mid 18th-century. It's the Age of Sail, and also the age of Piracy here in the West Indies. Will you fight for King and Country and uphold the law here at the edge of colonial civilization? Or will you pillage and plunder to your black heart's content? The wind's a-blowin' and the sea awaits, so prepare for adventure...

The Tale So Far

Following the chaotic battle at sea and the resulting sinking of the Persephone, both the pirates and the navy have gone to ground. The crew of The Sea Hound makes port in Tortuga, hostages and loot in tow, while The Steadfast has docked in Barbados to lick her wounds.

The Sea Hound
A Sloop-of-War with three masts, 24 cannon and two mounted guns, The Sea Hound is strong and swift, though she has sacrificed speed for a re-enforced hull that renders her a powerful skirmisher. At present, she is the terror of the Caribbean.

Hispaniola
Divided between Spanish rule in the east and French rule in the west, two-thirds of the island serves as a haven for unsavory characters and Spanish privateers, while the remaining third - the French colony of Saint-Dominque - is the highly prosperous "Pearl of the Antilles"
