Autumn has begun to settle in and the anomalies continue into the new season: snow in the desert, unbearable heat in areas which were supposed to be cool - only to name a few. The summer holiday is over: the Senshi are returning to school while the members of Angel Investigations and the Scooby Gang have moved to Tokyo and are taking over their new jobs at Wolfram and Hart.

Not that anyone who had just met her would be able to guess, but Buffy used to be quite the clubby type of girl. In fact, back in Sunnydale, she used to go quite regularly. Of course, slaying, being dead and the whole saving the world gig got in the way theses days, as did looking after her little sister. Still, Buffy couldn't help but feel a little out of place when she walked into Caritas. Apparently this bar was strictly neutral, no fighting allowed. That was what brought her here in the first place.

Being a slayer was hard work most times, but trying to find a place in Los Angeles that didn't have a gang of demons in it with a grudge was actually impossible. Not that she'd been able to do much in the way of scoping out a watering hole, with Spike prowling around again. She wasn't sure how she felt about that vampire. When she was a girl, she'd fallen head over heels with Angel, who'd left her alone in her darkest hours. But Spike had always been there, and now he was prepared to face up to her and stick by her, unlike tall, dark and brooding. A softy smile played at her face. She was starting to use Spike's nicknames for Angel. Maybe she was finally over him.

Buffy could feel the eyes of the crowd upon her as she crossed the room. Her heart raced in time with the music, aware of the hostility in the gaze of the groups of demons. Pulling up a seat at the bar, she noticed that most demons gave her a wide berth. She looked up, trying to catch the bartender's attention. It'd be nice to just have a quiet non-slayer night, even if the clientele were still keeping a wary eye on her.

The world was a strange place. it failed to see that which lay beneath its feat so boldly. The humans stood blind to the truth of the world. The gaping hole that bore teeth was chomping at their heels all the time and they called it coincidence, and chance when really it was the world biting back. Fate was a force created by beings stronger than those it toyed with. The world was basically filled with bored beings manipulating each other because they had little else to do. If you weren't playing mind games with someone, then what was the point? wasn't life about getting what you want, helping others and blah blah blah? It was all a circle, a cycle of repetitions that got tangled up, swept away, and it all started over again. OK, so it might start slightly differently, or its a variation of sorts but it was all the same really. It was the same thing on a different day with the same outcome and a similar beginning and a messed up middle. Farah had lived long enough to know this.

After a hard day' work, which usually involved being a gossip and intrusive in other people's lives, Farah wanted to let loose and have some fun. She may find it interesting to bore into other people's lives but there was only so long she could cater to the needs of others before she go bored. She was a demon after all. Demons were normally selfish creatures who's desires revolved around their own lives and their own problems. It wasn't like she was now going to work on the apocalypse or eat a few humans. Farah just wanted to listen to some loud music and party the night away. If there was a passion fruit around she might just have that and get a little drunk. Maybe she should just stick with the alcohol.

When Farah entered Caritas the atmosphere was frigid which was odd. Usually there was a happy, relaxed atmosphere. The sanctuary spell meant that demons were happy knowing they couldn't be harmed within the walls of Caritas. Yet Farah was sure they were unhappy for a reason. Only a big threat would make them shifty like this, even within the bounds of the Sanctuary spell which denied violence from any being with demonic blood. Farah wasn't able to do any damage here herself unless she used her words to cut and slice but a human could. However humans could do a bit but it was unlikely any humans would be here. It was when she approached the bar that she realised what the fuss was about: a Slayer. What was a slayer doing in here? And yet it was a bar that welcomed all. One would think they would be less edgy. It was doubtful she was here to cause harm. The Host wouldn't stand for it after all.

Farah slid into a stool beside her. "You would think with the Sanctuary Spell they'd be less suspicious. No one with your strength can be fully human," Farah said with a smile then ordered a drink.

Buffy knew all to well of the darkness that was consuming the world. Whilst the rest of humanity remained blissfully unaware of her nightly mission and the sacrifices she had made for them, Buffy knew all too well that danger lurked around every corner. Perhaps this was another reason as to why she was drawn to vampires as lovers. They knew the darkness that she had seen, they were a part of it. But the slayer couldn't just love a vampire, they had to be like her, to know and understand the fight. Angel had left her to give her a normal and safe life, she figured he didn't see that she could never have that kind of life.

Buffy more felt the presence of the person in the seat next to her before they spoke. She turned and looked at them. Blonde hair and bright blue eyes, shining with life. If the strangers eyes had been green Buffy could have sworn she was looking at a past version of herself. At time when she had been truly alive and ready for the fight, before life was complicated and busy. She looked away again, taking another sip of her drink. She didn't want to cause any hostilities with anyone in the bar.

Buffy sighed when she was spoken to. Well, she had decided that she needed a social life. "You would think that" She remarked casually. "But I imagine that they think I am waiting for them to leave before I attack them." Buffy looked down at her empty glass and frowned. So what sort of demon are you?

Normally she rather liked Caritas. The Host was good at his job, often taking to the stage to introduce or politely boot an act off of the stage. There was an eclectic mash of demons around, though Farah could see some of them leave as soon as they entered, leave when they realised the slayer was here, or remain with tense shoulders, constantly looking over them as though she would race up to them and stab them with a stick of wood. While she was primarily against vampires, she did fight all kinds of demons. Here though, demons had little intention to harm each other. They felt their space was invaded by her presence. They should be able to drink in peace, right?

Normally the atmosphere was good but now it was downright horrible. Normally Caritas was a great place to kick back and relax. Farah liked coming here and she did, from time to time, wander in with her demonic nature, smile and hopefully, perhaps pick up a compatible demon who wasn't covered in scales or slime or too sharp teeth. Some demons were insanely attractive, though quite a lot looked like something out of a horror show. Hey, she might be demon but not even she wanted to get down and dirty with something that could give her nightmares. She was more human compatible than she was demon compatible.

"Oh I'm not going to tell you that," Farah replied. Where was the fun in giving her all the answers? "I will tell you there are no sacrifices nor human organ eating within my family," She then winked. "Well, not all organs...and only if you ask," She flirted lightly.

Caritas hadn't been Buffy's first pick for a club or bar. She'd heard about this place, where demons could go and drink in peace. Buffy had figured to respect that. No trouble ever happened around here anyway, so it wasn't as if she needed to be here. However, any other normal bars were too dangerous. Less savoury demons didn't decide to go to Caritas and believed in irritating the slayer when she was "off-duty." As much as Buffy respected a demon's right to drink in peace, she also demanded she be left in peace. Right now, even though the clientele were staring, she felt like she may have just found the right place to drink.

She listened to the demon next to her talk, drumming her fingers against her now empty glass. At the flirt, she looked up, alarmed. Uh.... Buffy's first words were a vague mumbling stumble of embarrassment. Look...I'm flattered, but... Her brain was rushing to figure out the least offensive way to turn down the female (well, she thought she was female.) I'm sort of already in a relationship, of sorts. Well wasn't that the least convincing turn down of all time. And...well, I'm not interesting in women. But..thanks! That's really flattering. She gave an awkward smile and rubbed the back of her neck.

After a moment of silence, she looked at the demon next to her. I'm Buffy, but you probably already know that. She sighed. Nice to meet you....uh...

Farah didn't really blame them for being skittish. The slayer was a formidable force that killed a lot of demons and thus brought on the wibblies. Farah wasn't afraid of a slayer. She was stronger than her for starters. A lot of demons had the advantage, which was probably why they were so afraid because she still managed to smash their heads in. Perhaps she was too efficient, for the demons mind. Besides, the Slayer was in their domain. This bar was created with demons in mind, and if she wanted to come in here she had to expect tensions and thus, it was not exactly a great place to relax. So why was she here? Was she doing her best to ignore the rising tensions? Seemed hardly worth the bother.

Farah grinned widely at buffy's stammering. Ha! How many demons could say that made a Slayer awkward over sex. She was practically sex on legs. She was all fight and fire and kicking punches. That was pretty damn attractive. She was hot, just looking like she was, smooth pale skin, lightly lightly tanned and blonde hair. She was slender, strong, swift and elegant. Everyone here was sending glances her way. Farah hadn't taken her eyes off her, but not in a scary staring kind of way. she wasn't trying to bore holes in her skull or intimidate her. She was just being...intense. Intense was good right?

"Baby, what are you doing here? Farah asked. "This cannot be any less uncomfortable for you than it is for them. You're even making the Flaschkov demon nervous and they have a disposition of steel," Farah said. "I'm serious. Seeing one of those guy wobble is like...seeing God do the Hokey Kokey," Farah grinned. That would be one weird image.

Buffy sort of half squirmed under the girl's intense stare. This place was getting more and more uncomfortable by the minute. All Buffy wanted was to have a nice quiet night out, maybe make a friend or two (seeing as her old ones were too busy to ever see her.) But no, a slayer could never take even the smallest break from being herself and enjoy a casual evening like any other human. Stupid reputation, always getting in the way of normal life. She had noticed all the glances being sent her way, but had dismissed them as being a wary eye keeping watch on someone who had probably killed family or friends at some stage in her career. Buffy didn't see herself as beautiful, not these days anyway. When she was younger she had been obsessed with her looks, but with age and slaying came the mature outlook that her looks wouldn't last.

She scowled as the woman who had just hit on her avoided the subtle cue to introduce herself. Straight away, Buffy's slayer instincts told her that any person who didn't give a name, or at least a form of identification, was up to no good. That wasn't always the case but it was better to assume to worst than to be surprised by evil later on. Same thing everyone else is here for. A quiet night out, trying to relax. She eyed up the woman in front of her, trying to figure her out. I'm not here to cause trouble. I've been attacked at bars all over town because you demons can't give me any peace. Buffy let the anger and frustration show a little.. You guys want to drink without being attacked, So do I. This place provides it.

Truth be told, Buffy was tired of the slaying game. She hadn't been in it for so long that she didn't really get the benefits like the adrenaline rush during the chase, the thrill of the dust. No perks, only the issues associated with being the slayer. Like being randomly attacked by demons at work, on her way home, when going out. No wonder she kept to working late hours and sleeping at home. All Buffy wanted was her little sister to be safe and well off. Buffy didn't want any trouble. There was enough people here to deal with that, with Angel and Faith and their sidekicks all floating around.
