Title: simAOME
Bill The Pony - November 9, 2005 05:54 AM (GMT)
All right, I mentioned in the chat last night how I made a bunch of AOME members into characters in THE SIMS. I also have a house where the Fellowship (with scanned-in actor heads) all live. Then people wanted to see them.
Okay, Here's a scrapbook:

That's awesome! How did you make the skins?

I didn't make any of the faces or costumes. All of that, and lots of decorations & furniture, was downloaded from Sims fan sites. This was my project from last year: to keep the friends I made at DragonCon 2004 in my little neighborhood, where they'd all live down the street, just pop on over for a visit...

nice. The chat last night made me start back up on my AOME Sims2 community. I still have a ways to go, but it's comming. Now if I could get my brother to let me download stuff to his comp I could have some cool Sims!

Well, I can play it from time to time... When Melissa isn't reading HP FanFics. I'll post some new screenshots when interesting stuff happens.
Or if this is something that the group would be interested in on a regular basis, we can make updates a regular feature on the site?
Perhaps some members would care to donate to the "simAOME Fund" on our Paypal link, to buy me a copy of Sims2? If we did that, I'd do the legwork of setting up a simAOME blog, and creating a character for anyone in the group that wants to be included.
Any takers?

I'd be able to donate, although it may be a bit, as I don't have paypal here.

How much of a donation would we have to make?

If enough people are interested, it would only take $5 or so from them to buy the game and some video capture software.
The Blog for updates, I could set that up free with a little HTML tweaking, we've got the web space paid through next year. So that would be it. Any money collected above the cost of initial software could be used to buy the expansion packs (University and the new one, NightLife), as well as any Sims2 editors that I might need to personalize our environment.
SO... Thinking this out... Each member would get:
- 1 Sim character of yourself. Include a picture of you for matching and your astrological sign (used to set traits)
- 1 Room for your sim in a house on the block. (If Sims2 supports the same kind of stuff as part one, I can even hang pictures you send me on the walls.)
Posts to the site would happen every few days in the form of Screenshots and/or short videos.
Since there would probably be a lot of people in this, I won't check with you for every decision in your sim's life, but if you have preferences about room decor, what kind of job track they should have, etc., I will take that into account.
Any other feedback or ideas?

I get paid on the 15th......I'll be glad to donate.

Well, I think it all sounds pretty sweet! I'm not too good at this sort of feedback, so whatever you decide is cool. YAY!

Okay Folks, I picked up Sims2 the other night, and stayed up until 1 AM last night getting started and downloading extras. I'll say this: It looks very cool, but it's a good deal more difficult to work than the first one.
I will work on having the neighborhood up and running, but it might be December before the place is very filled out.
