My friend and I played a small 500 pt game early this morning. We agreed that a small game was best as hes just starting out in the galaxy and I was in dire need of a refresher course. We decided to let it be the first game in a mini campaign.

Chapter 1

Communications with the delta outpost on Alurris 4 have been mysteroiusly severed. The Inquisition has ordered an investigation but is months from the target. Wolf Lord Orlath Udinsons great company, on patrol in the neighboring system intercepted the signal and has decided to investigate. A small force lead by Battle Leader Bud the Bloody was sent down at 0300 hours this morning. As they apprached the objective they learned the dark fate of the Delta Outpost. They would also learn what they were made of.

The Battle
The deserted outpost sat just beyond a hill, as Bud and his troops made their approach. On either side were the ruined walls of a long forgotten structure, and to the north west a wooded hill sat quietly nestled away.

Turn 1
The Grey Hunters mounted the hill before them and took up firing positions along the crest. Relaying back messages of all clear to Bud, the batlle leader and his Blood CLaws come around from the western side of the hill. The clearing ahead devoid of life and sounds apart from the wind the trees. A chill runs through the air, the wolves can sense something is off on this world. The sound of millions of screams and and chanting roar from behind the Blood Claws. Turning around the warriors see reality ripped away as the warp tears open. Charging forth from this wound in reality the blood soaked demons of Khorne scream and howl. The beasts run fast but the distance is far and the heathen creatures fall short of their would be victims.

Turn 2
The Grey Hunters turn and move back down the hill, firing and howling for Russ and the Allfather. Their bolts and plasma blasts ripping through demon hide with no mercy, dropping four of the horrendous beings. Buds Blood Claws assault in for the finishing blow. The Herald of the Blood God is faster however and manages to fell three pups before the berserkers overtake the beasts. Wiping them to the last from Alurris 4. Then with a terrifying howl reality is ripped asunder once again and more of the Bloodletters pour forth, led by a fearsome beast known only as The Skulltaker. Again the horrors march forward but again they fall short of their target.

Turn 3
Buds reaction is quick, he orders the Grey Hunters to hold their position and fire relentlessly. Six of the Bloodletters are slain when the bolters have finally emptied their payload. The Battle leader and his Claws rush forward at the enemy. The skulltaker claims two more skulls this day before Bud cuts him down, severin the beasts own head. The Claws and demons swirl about attacking and parrying, until finally only one Bloodletter remains. The Grey Hunters now charge into the fray. Their own attaks being added to the blinding dirvish. Brother Kron and his Power Fist scored the final kill on this day.

Conclusion

Victory was ours, but now we must hold this position long enough to discover the depth of Chaos Taint. Buds investigation has revealed the truth behind Delta Ouposts fate. He now remains on location awaiting reinforcements, before the hellspawn return to reclaim the outpost.
