Good to see Connie's still so popular after.. how many years has it been? Five? Anyway, she's got got to be one of the most loved characters in Holby history!
How's everyone finding Holby in her absence? It's the first time since I started watching (that'll be the number of years since Amanda joined) that I've stopped for several weeks at a time. To be fair, it's coincided with one of the most chaotic terms of my life, but I'm also feeling no need to go catch up on iplayer when Tuesdays are full.. is it just me?

No you're not the only one. I am too in the most hectic semester at Uni yet, so its hard to keep up with things. I mean I do find time here or there for just me time, so I try to catch up but I must admit I dont think I've seen it for well over a month now. I am totally letting the side down, but I can imagine that people are not watching because Connie isn't in. I think the other actors and actresses are really good and some of the storylines are brilliant but I just dont think they have the same impact as the one's Connie is involved in.
I will try my best to see the Christmas lead up though, I do miss watching it, but so much to do so little time at the mo! [ & it doesnt help that the usual night out for us is a Tues night so Im always getting ready about the time its on]

Exactly, I feel a bit bad because I'm suggesting that the rest of the cast are useless, which they certainly aren't - I do adore Hari Dhillon especially. But it's coming up to a month now since I've actually watched an episode from start to finish.. I know what you mean though, I feel like Connie's return/certainly Christmas won't be nearly as exciting if I've got no idea what's been going on before. Will make an effort once things calm down, especially when Ric comes back!
& yes, I've heard about Tuesdays being a popular night at other unis on Open Days! I'm complaining now, it's going to get harder

All Im going to say is, enjoy your first year at Uni. Do everything you want to do. Go out as much as you can, do random things because believe me come 2nd year, you hardly have any time spare. (First couple of weeks is okay) I have been out probably about 5 times since being back, and thats nothing. I am a party queen, but you just get seminars to prep for, reading for essays, assignments. 1st year it doesn't count and is only an 'intro' year for you to settle in and get used to living away from home if you do. 2nd year is when the degree starts and you have to calm down! Plus you're in a house, got bills to pay so are probably going to be constantly skint. Its like Im suddenly an adult and have responsiblities

Duuuudes I wouldn't worry.. You watch what you enjoy & don't worry too much about the rest. You feel what you feel & as long as you're polite about other people's opinions there isn't much room for criticism.
&& I stopped watching before Diane left, so thurr.

I haven't watched regularly in Connie's absence either. It is sad to admit that I watch predominantly for a few characters (mainly Connie), but like Lotty said, watch what you enjoy.
There are strong cast members even in Connie and Ric's absence e.g. Elliot, Drs Greene & Rose, Spence, Jac (I can't stand her but Rosie is a good actress) & Joseph but from the little I have seen it seems that, rather than bringing them to the front to mitigate the effects of the absence of two of the main characters, they haven't utilised them effectively at all. I made an effort to catch up on the episode with Elliot's heart scare but even that episode was strangely dull (I can't remember what else happened).
I suppose that the producers have used this as an opportunity to develop the newer characters, but when giving new characters lots of screentime in the past, they have always had Connie, Elliot & Ric for little filler scenes. I know Connie's constant presence in epsiodes, even it was just one filler scene, annoyed lots of people but without such scenes from the more established characters, the bits of the episodes I have seen feel strangely vacuous.
Maybe I'm being unfair and the episodes are stronger than the spoilers suggest, but there is nothing that makes me want to tune in. I don't think the Christmas and New year spoilers sound any more exciting unfortunely.

Yeah its the same for me. I have not seen a single episode from start to finish, since Connie's absesnce. It just does not seem interesting. can't wait till she's back. I think Ric's coming back before xmas, which is what Amanda said on her twitter page.
