Weyrbowl This is the main open part of the Weyr where dragons land and take off. Currently, the weyrbowl is slowly filling with more and more water as the rain continues to fall and the landslides continue to block any escape of moisture. The familiar scene has been replaced by an immense, muddy lake. |

Conference Room This room is usually only used for meetings, whether they are with other Weyrleaders or the various Wingleaders and Wing seconds here at Aerten. The room is dominated by a large round table that usually sits a total of 14 people. If the number exceeds that extra chairs have to be brought up from the kitchens or people can stand. |

The names of the deceased are carved all along the walls by friends and family left behind; those named are of all different ranks and ages - human, dragon, flitt, or wher - no one is too 'unimportant' to be honored. Dunfalin River ***This forum is CLOSED TO NEW TOPICS for the duration of the flood*** This river runs right through the Weyrbowl, disappearing underground at the southern end to fill Lake Crisium. Ten footbridges are positioned evenly along its length to Weyrfolk convenience. The water is frigid in the winter, but provides a lovely place to swim in the summer. Weyrfolk can be found fishing here all year round. |

For items that are needed such as cloths, food, liquors, and glows; as well as plenty of rooms for Weyr residents and include a good number of public bathing rooms. |

Riders' Weyrs The Riders' weyrs are house along the two sides of the ravine. Long stair cases with safety ropes lead to the weyrledges. Each weyr includes a large area for the dragon as well as a smaller room for the rider and a personal bath, however none of them have a back entrance. There are 700 individual weyrs; currently 110 are in use. |

Hatching Sands A large covered cavern with a sand floor where female dragons come to lay their clutches. The sand is heated by natural hot springs. There are many entrances for dragons and humans alike, as well as tiers of seating for all those that attend the Hatchings. |

Kitchens and Dining Hall ***This forum is CLOSED TO NEW TOPICS for the duration of the flood*** This includes the Kitchens - where food is prepared - and the Dining Hall - where the members of the Weyr eat everyday. Ceremonies, like Walking the Tables and celebrations like Hatching Banquets are also held here. The two rooms are connected by a common doorway and meals are usually laid out on long tables in the dining hall, buffet style. The Dining Hall also has a few entrances that lead to the Weyrbowl. |

Clifftops Far above the concerns of the Weyr below, the clifftops of Aerten provide a spectacular view. They are barren and littered with rocks and sand, punctuated by the occasional bush but are otherwise flat and uninteresting. From this lofty vantage point, Arion Hold and all the nearby farms are visable as well as the majority of the Weyr. Temporary Infirmary, Herdbeast Pens, and Kitchen are located here. Accessible by stairway or friendly dragonback. |

Wherhandler Lessons This is where the new Wherhandlers are trained by the current Master Wherhandler. The lessons take place at night anywhere the Master deems necessary, be it Weyr or Hold, though most likely in or near the Weyr. You are expected to read and post in each new lesson to show attendance. |

Thread Forecasts Dragonriders must fly when thread is in the sky. Though no two falls are the same, each fall has its own hazards and problem spots. Come here at the start of each fall to be rewarded with a story on how the fall was located and hear the wings get summoned into the air. Also here is where you will be warned on the dangers of each fall that Aerten flies. |

Ground Crews For cleaning up any thread burrows after a fall. A different Wing is assigned to the duty each fall; along with a few other groups, such as Weyrfolk, Candidates or Weyrlings. Please check the fall descriptions each fall to find out if you have been assigned. |

Farmland Here is where the Weyrfolk cultivate the crops they supplement Arion's tithe with. Dragonriders work alongside civilians here. It's hard on everyone since crops don't grow well in this climate, but it's better than starving. |

Mines This is where the weyrfolk mine their firestone. The mines are located in the ravine north of the Weyr proper. The Riders work here if they aren't attending to their Thread-related duties or farming. Whers and their handlers also help out here; ore is transported to the Reserves via carts they may or may not be moved through wher-power. |

Slopes The mountain slopes north of the Weyr. This provides a beautiful place to sun and have a picnic in the summer, and the snow is perfect for skiing in the winter. Non-riders can reach the slopes via a well worn path. |

Outer Hold The Outer Hold is the region outside of the main Arion Hold. Hundreds of smaller Holds and cotholds that are beholden to Arion can be found here. Each varies, but all are built of stone quarried from the main hold and Aerten Weyr, and covered in roofs of slate during time of Threadfall. |

Fish Pond This small pond just outside the main Hold makes a perfect spot to fish or swim in the summer, or ice skate in the winter. Tall grasses and weeds grow on the western bank, and a fair amount of tiny creatures make this spot their home. The water is ten feet deep at the center, and only large enough to hold the smallest of adult dragons. Nevertheless, rider and holders like come here in good weather to relax and have fun. |
