I knew they were making a 3rd series (assuming universe is the 3rd series) but not that they would cancel Atlantis to do it....that is kinda ridiculous...I think they only want 1 stargate series running and their calling it Universe because it includes everything....which makes me think they might combine sg1 and atlantis possibly...i don't know I'm just speculating...that would be interesting though biggrin.gif

When and if they end the Atlantis series, they will most likley end it similar to SG-1. Then they will release a movie that ends the story like Ark of Truth for SG-1. Atlantis is so young still, they may keep it running a good while even when Stargate: Universe begins to air.

Universe from what I've gathered is about the 9th chevron and about a ship that was placing the stargates throughout the universe, and it is about that.

heres another place i got from google

The third show to spin-off the hit Sci-Fi series 'Stargate SG1' was Green-Lighter a day after the announcement that Stargate Atlantis will be canceled after it's fifth season run. Stargate Universe will premiere with a 2 hour movie in 2009 and land in a regular time slot next summer, at least one known actor will join the cast along with new fresh faces.

After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by The Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.

What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.

The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission. Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny and the crew is unable to control the ship's navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures.

Sounds good, but once the crew relizes that they direct the ship why they just beam down to the first habitable planet with a stargate and find a way back to earth/atlantis/alpha site/etc since the new stargates are appently connected to the old ones?

good question...I don't think they would have asgard beaming tech on the ship....but mabe an ancient beaming tech or rings

you would think they would also have life pods or ships to evacuate crew in a space engagement mabe or is it unmanned?

Well they are in a new galaxy and the thing the people who wrote stargate always use the power requirements thing, so maybe like its a search for power or something so they can gate back.

There in yet another galaxy?! Why they have 4 perfectly good ones already(milky way/ours,Asgard's, Ori's one and Atlantis's galaxy) why the heck do they need to add more!?!?!

And I guess the power thing makes some sense, but won't they need more power just to gate onto it in the first place and therefore know they would need a big power source to get back?

Sure, but they went to Atlantis not knowing if they could return, and about the galaxy thing it seems like each chevron is a new galaxy, so after this they will probably turn the stargate over and use the chevrons on the back tongue.gif

Also do you have trouble with xfire cause you always log on then right after log off.
