![]() When "Manga: The Complete Guide" arrived it seemed to be the most elaborate piece of literature on manga and its history. It seems I, along with many, were wrong. According to Japanator, "One Thousand Years of Manga" is an upcoming book which dates manga back a thousand years. This book traces it back to the end of the "Heian" period and "Emakimono" scrolls (a combo of text and images).
The book is being written by a professor at the University of Tokyo, teaching comparative literature, Brigitte Koyama-Richard. It won't run cheap, this book will cost you $50 for a hardcover. The book will be available sometime next February. -------------------- |
