Deja Vu, I Know You
you're not a hero, you're a liar, you're not a saviour, you're a vampire, sucking the life out of all the friends you've ever known. you're just a trainwreck, not a winner, up on your soapbox preaching down to the sinners. all the saints without a cause, we're not listening. we're not listening. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
As Jae Sun was walking down Main Street he had one thought on his mind, 'Damn there be a lot of white people around here.' Not that he was racist, far from it actually, it was just that when you live in Canterbury, Connecticut there wasn't a ton of diversity. Sure you had your African-Americans and your Hispanic-Americans, but there was one key word there. American. Again Jae Sun had nothing against Americans, his own mother was American, which made him part American. He didn't feel American though. He had lived in Korea up until three years ago. Before then he had only made one or two trips here before. Korea was his home, Seoul was his home. Part of him couldn't wait until her graduated so he could return home and see his friends again. Sure he went home at breaks but that wasn't the same as being there all the time.

Jae Sun tried to shake these thoughts from his head but they persisted. He'd settle for even just a piece of home, another Korean speaking person. Sure he had his family but they didn't really count, not that he would EVER say that because his dongseangs would kill him if he did. He loved his family to death but there was no way he could tell them everything. First of all he'd never taint his sisters ears from hearing all his stories, they were too innocent to hear about his exploits as a college student. Secondly they were family, they'd want to put their two cents in on everything.

Aish! Jae Sun thought as turned the corner. Up ahead there was a cafe/restaurant with an open patio so customers could dine outside. He decided that he might as well stop and get something to eat. The patio area only had one other person sitting in it. Moving into the area Jae Sun gave a quick wave to one of the waiters inside signaling that he was planning on eating before sitting down a table away from the other person. The waiter came out and Jae Sun automatically told him his order, a mocha frappuccino. It wasn't until the waiter stared at him blankly that he realized he had spoken in Korean. It wasn't the first time it happened so Jae Sun wasn't really embarrassed by it anymore. Sorry man, I mean a mocha frappuccino. He gave the waiter a sheepish smile which simply earned him an eye roll before the waiter walked off.

While he waited Jae Sun glanced around the area, it was actually a pretty nice cafe. In fact Canterbury itself was a nice city, but it had nothing on Seoul. This time a day in Seoul a cafe on Main Street would be jam packed. But this was nice in a cozy one-on-one type of way. As he glanced around his eyes fell naturally on the only other patron. At first glance Jae Sun realized the guy was Asian. On second glance Jae Sun realized he knew the guy from somewhere. His brow furrowed as he tried to place the guy. Distantly in the back of his mind he remembered something about his appa telling him off had that one of his former business associates moved to Canterbury about a year ago. When the waiter came back with his frappuccino Jae Sun was still staring at the guy. Park. The last name was Park. That wasn't very helpful though, there were probably a million Parks in Seoul. Hyun Su? No that wasn't right. Kwon Ki? Nope still wrong. Hyun Ki! Jae Sun didn't realize he had shouted until the words had already left his mouth...oops.

olae jeon 오래 전To say that Canterbury's lifestyle was different than that he was used to, would be an understatement. Something about the somewhat quiet and small town stopped Hyun-Ki from feeling at home there, not to mention the different culture and people and of course the fact that there were basically no people with whom he could speak Korean, even in Tokyo when he had spoken mostly Japanese it wasn't impossible to come by another Korean. However, this seemed to be a little harder here and even though they spoke Korean at home like they always did, Hyun-Ki still struggled to call this place home. He missed Seoul and he missed Tokyo, thinking about it he would have felt more comfortable if they had lived in New York or another big city in America, that itself would have brought something familiar in the young man's eyes. Even if it was a little unbelievable, Hyun-Ki missed the hustle and bustle of the big city and how it seemed to be alive at all hours, it fitted him as he was not the person to settle for the quiet, he had to move and see things change, probably one of the reasons that he was so passionate about his dancing.A good example to why this place will never be known for the hustle and bustle of the big city was not the size but the fact that in a beautiful and sunny day as today, there weren't much people out enjoying the day. The few people outside simply rushed from one place to another, almost as if the world was about to end. It was ridiculous in his eyes, but on the other hand, Hyun-Ki was in no place to judge them as he was the stranger in this place, he was the one to not know much about the American culture but after over a year of living in that place, he had decided that maybe it was better if he did not try to understand everything and stuck with the things he knew, eventually he was planning on either returning to Seoul or Tokyo, which one of them he wasn't sure yet, both places were his true homes, just in a different points in his life. He was planning to stay until Taeyeon will graduate and maybe a couple of more years after that to help his mother, knowing that leaving her behind will be the hardest for him. After all, those who knew him knew that Hyun-Ki was one big Umma's boy.Moving his hand through his long hair, Hyun-Ki made his way down the main street. There was still time until he had to show up for work and his mother had basically kicked him out of the house, not letting him help her and ordering him to enjoy the beautiful day, something that the nineteen years old was all but willing to do. He might be helping a lot around the house, but he had the tendency to complain during that time, saying how there were million and one other things that he would rather do. Apparently even his mother had had enough of this behavior that she preferred to just send him wondering around the town. After wondering around in the sun for half a hour, Hyun-Ki had come by a small coffee house with an open patio, allowing the customers to sit outside, Hyun-Ki was surprised that the few people that were having their breakfast in this place had chosen to sit inside, it was such a waste of a very good day in his opinion, so with a small wave and a smile to the waiter he had seated himself outside, being the only one in the patio, people might have think it weird but not Hyun-Ki, being the different one was something he was great it, after all, how many other Koreans or Asians there were in this place? He had order a cappuccino in a not so perfect English and leaned back in his chair, his sunglass blocking the strong sun that shown above him, he really did enjoy any amount of time spent in the sun, it was very relaxing. Hyun-Ki didn't notice someone passing him by and sitting in the patio, but anyone would notice if someone was to shout their name out loud. Jumping in his chair, he turned around to see where it had come from, his eyes fell upon the other man sitting in the patio, also being Asian and he tried to think if they had met before, racking through his memory quickly a big smile spread upon his lips and he got up from his chair, grabbing his bag in his right hand and walking toward the other Korean. "Jea Sun, right?" he said, before he threw his bag next to the table and seated himself down across from him, they had known each other a while back, both fathers being businessmen, Hyun-Ki had actually planned to talk with him after finding out from his father that they as well lived in Canterbury. ?"Being a long time since I saw you."TAG: Jae Sun     WORDS: 855     NOTES: Outfit and look, he is surprise. Jae Sun felt a small blush appear on his face as Hyun Ki's eyes fell on him. He gave a sheepish wave to the other man while mentally berating himself for being so stupid. Thankfully Hyun Ki recognized him. He was amazed that just minutes after he wished for another Korean companion, he was granted on in the form of an old friend. Their appas had worked with each other on occasion and so they grew acquainted through them. Jae Sun had been closer to Hyun Ki even though Hyun Ki's brother was actually closer in age to him. But even back then Jin Ho had been more studious, which to this day Jae Sun still wasn't. So Jae Sun spent more of his time teasing and playing with Hyun Ki. Plus his sisters loved him too. Min Ji had the biggest crush on him for a while if he remembered correctly. Not that she told him, more of he read it from her diary.

Jae Sun smiled as Hyun Ki came over to sit with him. Being a long time since I saw you. Jae Sun nodded, it had been a while since they had last seen each other. He had been 14 when Hyun Ki and his family moved to Tokyo and after that Jae Sun hadn't seen him. Yeah it has been. It's has to have been what...seven or eight years now right? Man that seems forever and day ago. Jae Sun chuckled and ran a hand over his mohawk, it was really growing out now. He needed to get it cut but he was getting more of a kick out of his appa mumbling how it was unprofessional. The argument came at least once a month, "How can you expect people to take you seriously when you look like some common street thug?" He didn't listen to the fact that they worked in the music industry, having a mohawk wasn't all that uncommon. Jae Sun simply figured that he had the rest of his life to be professional, he could enjoy the few years left of immaturity he had before becoming Mr. Suit.

A girl walked through the patio, heading towards the cafe and out of pure habit Jae Sun's eyes followed her. She caught his eyes on her and he winked causing her to blush and hurry into the cafe. With a satisfied smirk Jae Sun turned back to Hyun Ki.Ladies, gotta love them right? So what have you been up to? Appa mentioned a couple weeks ago that you have been here for almost a year now. How is that you've lived here for a year and we're just meeting up. It's not like it's a huge town, plus a couple of amazing Koreans like ourselves don't exactly blend if you know what I mean.
