Being the oldest of five children, she had always been the good child. While her twelve year old twin sisters were out stealing and running away, Eliza was home studying, doing chores, obeying her mother. She always had the best grades; she was the most organized and the least carefree of her four siblings. Her parents swore she would turn out to be the perfect one, class valedictorian, go on to be CEO of a large company, and possibly even the first female president. It seemed as if Eliza could do nothing wrong.Jason Eldridge was fifteen the summer before his sophomore year. It surprised everyone in his family and most of his teachers that he had even gotten as far as he did. Since the age of eleven Jason had been experimenting with drugs and alcohol. When he was twelve he was attending high school parties with the help of his two high school-aged brothers. Although he didn’t need much help, the boy could hold his liquor and could snort a line all on his own, and their parents didn’t care much what they did as long as it didn’t require their help. Eliza was the quiet type. She sat one day, at a bench in the park, just reading. She politely scooted over a few inches and minded her own business as a rough looking boy sat down at the bench with her. He gently pushed the book down away from her face to tell her she was beautiful and he wanted to make her his girlfriend. She was only thirteen, and had never been told she was beautiful or pretty, let alone had a real boyfriend. He had told lots of girls this, but he really did want this girl. She surprisingly accepted and they spent every day at that park together on that bench for the next month. When the summer was half-way over, she finally took him to meet her parents. They were less than thrilled to see their perfect daughters’ choice. They told her to break up with him immediately, but she had no plans of that anytime soon. After only two months of dating, the week before school would be starting back up, they decided to seal the deal and make themselves truly official, they took it all the way. Jason had kissed plenty of girls, but he’d never gone this far, not even close. Eliza had never even held a boys hand before Jason; he was her first for absolutely everything. She was terrified what would happen if her parents ever found out, but he didn’t really care. Two weeks into the ninth grade, Eliza began feeling extremely nauseous on a daily basis. Worried about his girlfriend, Jason asked his brothers. He told them about what they’d done and what was happening now. They didn’t say much, just gave him a pregnancy test and told him to pray for one line. They went over to his house afterschool one day, home alone, and she took the test. They sat and waited. Twenty minutes later, a small plus sign was the result. At thirteen years old with a fifteen year old boyfriend, Eliza Lerux was pregnant. When her parents found this out, they were enraged. They demanded to meet Jason’s parents and blamed him for everything. They believed he had corrupted their perfect daughter and tainted her beautiful innocence. Seven months into the ninth grade, Eliza was big bellied and found it hard to move at times. She would go home and cry because of the other students rude remarks. Six weeks before her due date, Eliza and Jason both dropped out. She was only fourteen, he was sixteen. Eliza’s parents were even more furious. Their perfect daughter had gone from being number one to being a pregnant drop out in less than a year. Leaving school was the final straw for them, and they kicked her out of the house. Six weeks away from having a baby, fourteen year old Eliza moved in with Jason. His parents weren’t exactly proud of having their son’s pregnant girlfriend living in the house, but they would never turn her away. On May fifth of nineteen ninety-five, Eliza gave birth to a little girl that they called Persephone after her love of Greek mythology. beautiful like her mommaGrowing up, Persephone didn’t have the best home life. It wasn’t terrible, but it never will be great when you have teen parents. Eliza and Jason didn’t always get along, but they were always in love. When he was nineteen, she was seventeen, and Persephone was three, they sat at the bench where the young couple had first met. Eliza looked out into the surrounding trees and flowers with her young babbling daughter, not realizing what her boyfriend of three years was doing. When she finally turned her gaze to him, he was down on one knee, a small diamond ring in hand. She, of course, accepted his proposal and they were married seven months later. When Persephone was four, they finally moved out of her father’s parents’ house and into a small apartment only a few blocks away. When she was five, she met her mother’s parents for the first time. After kicking their daughter out, Eliza’s parents had talked to her only twice and seen a few pictures of their beautiful granddaughter. They congratulated their now married daughter and son-in-law, kissed the small child on the cheek, and left after staying for less than an hour. It was obvious that they were still extremely unhappy; the couple never did hear from her parents again. Jason’s parents, on the other hand, were over regularly as were his brothers. While Eliza and Jason were at work, his mother would usually volunteer to watch Persephone. His older brothers thought she was the most perfect thing. Jason’s brothers view of her daughter worried Eliza. She knew her parents had thought that same way of her, and she prayed that bad things would not come from this. She would never expect perfection from Persephone the way her own parents had done with her, but she certainly would teach her right from wrong.days you remember , journalsMay 5, 2009Dear DiaryI’m finally fourteen, hell yeah! Had my first drink with the boys tonight. Told Mom I was just goin’ to the movies and meeting up with some girlfriends, yeah, right. We hung out in Jake’s basement. His parents were out of town as always, so we rolled up a couple joints, dimmed the lights, and tossed back a few beers. It’s not as good as I expected it to be, it’s actually kinda gross. But hey, if everyone else likes it so much, I just must have to get used to it. Oh, I slept with Ash tonight, he was pretty good, guess it’s time to update the list (; Well, big day tomorrow, going out with Alex, haha! Good night, keep my secrets safe ;)Sex On Fire?James - Jake - DavidAsh –July 17, 2009Dear Diary Damn. Mom found some papers that we must’ve left in my room. She looked pretty pissed, told me if she ever found anything like that again in my room that I was grounded. Yeah, right. Whatever, I don’t even care, the boys are getting old anyway. All we do is smoke and drink down in Jake’s basement. Seriously, can’t we go out and do something? Ugh, oh well. It three in the morning and I’m pretty tired, so I’m out. Keep my secrets safe ;)Sex On Fire?James – Jake – David Ash – Alex – Carter Dorien – Blake – November 20, 2009 Dear Diary Man, haven’t wrote in here in like, three weeks. Well, don’t chill much with the boys anymore, at least not the same boys. Except for Alex. He’s a cutie, I wanna keep him around for a while. We hung out on the beach today. Too cold to go in the water, so we just walked in the sand. I think Dean got a little mad when me and Alex took a walk alone… He wouldn’t talk to me for the rest of the night. Oh well, we slept together once, it’s not like were actually together, and he better not think that. Ha, oops. Well, I’ll write again soon, promise. Keep my secrets safe ;)Sex On Fire?James – Jake – DavidAsh – Alex – CarterDorien – Blake – Leo Dean - Jeff – Nick Wes – March 2, 2010Dear Diary Not much news since last time I wrote.. Alex and I are still together. Tomorrows gonna be our three months. I like having a boyfriend, I think. It’s nice not having guys get mad when I flirt around, they know now that I’m with one person, it’s easier. Well , can’t talk long. I’m spost to be getting ready, Alex is taking me to dinner. Yep, I got a keeper here, teehee! Alex and I broke up a week ago, and I’ve slept with four guys since then. I’m a mess. We were together for a year and a half!!! Damn it, I miss him. This is stupid. He cheated on me. I broke up with him. I shouldn’t have, we could’ve worked past it. Ugh, whatever man. On to the next one, more fish in the sea? F*ck it. Keep my secrets safe ;)Sex On Fire?James – Jake – David Ash – Alex – CarterDorien – Blake – Leo Dean – Jeff – Nick Wes – Alex (37 times!) Nathan - Ben – Collin Logan –the way I are , self essayMy name is Persephone Jewel Eldridge. I’m seventeen years old and I’m a senior at Ellison. My parents are Jason and Eliza Eldridge, and I’m an only child. They had me when they were pretty young, but it’s all good now. I’m not the best kid. I get into trouble a lot, actually on a weekly basis. Oh well, at least I don’t have a kid yet. My mom hates it when I throw that one in her face, but it’s true. I like to party. When I say that, I don’t mean that I like to go to different parties and dance and eat and have fun with my friends. No, I like to get totally wasted, which takes quite a bit these days, and high off of my already screwed up mind. It’s nothing if I decide to go home with a cute guy I met that night at that party and just sleep with him. Hey, I’m in high school, everyone has their hookups. Sure, I’ve had a few more than most girls my age, but whatever. I’ve had only one serious boyfriend before. Alex. We dated for a year and a half, and I thought I was in love with him. He’s the only guy I’ve ever had long term feelings for. But he cheated on me, with a princess. Whatever, right? I’d date someone again if the right guy came around. I won’t just go for anyone. Sleeping with guys is one thing, but you’ve got to be pretty darn special if I’m gonna actually date you. Respect. I know, I probably seem like a bit of a careless whore. No, that’s not the case. Every guy but one (David) were guys that I knew very well and I was close to at the time. Granted most of them were just friends and I knew they’d never be anything more, they all respected me. If you don’t respect me, you don’t have a chance at anything at all with me. If I say no, or not yet, then listen! I don’t always want to have sex, sometimes I just want to lay there and act happy for a few minutes. It’s no fun to always have guys trying to grope all over you. Well, it is, but still!I don’t really get along with too many girls. I’m more of a guy’s girl, but not just because I hookup with them. Guys are more fun. Of course, I enjoy getting pampered, getting my hair and nails done, buying new clothes, but I like physical activities. I want to have fun! Sometimes watching a football game and throwing back some beers is more fun than going to the mall or watching The Hills or whatever the best chick show is. I want the perfect guy to come around. My perfect guy? I want him to be weird. Like, super quirky and silly and I can have a great time with. If I get bored with you within the first month, you’re just not him! I want a guy I can always count on for a ton of fun, that always has something new up his sleeve. Let’s go to the amusement park, or a concert, or let’s go out on a boat. Just something random that I know we’ll have fun with. Just be perfect for me!
