got no place to goif you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown, honey, i'm still free. take a chance on me. gonna do my very best and that ain't no lie, if you put me to the test, if you let me try. take a chance on me, take a chance on me. the past month had been hard. well, it was more than a month, actually, but it had been difficult regardless. for some reason, isaac taylor was in no mood to be social, or kind, or cooperative - he wasn't being himself, really, and gabriel swanson wasn't sure why. sure, he'd expressed his discomfort in regards to isaac (a twenty-three-year-old grad student)'s relationship with skye (a seventeen-year-old high school senior), but how was that relevant to anything now? isaac and skye were apparently no longer together, not that it affected gabriel in any way, but his roommate had been acting strange since long before the break-up. ever since their first spring break trip to brazil, isaac had been irrevocably pissed off at gabe, and the reason why was beyond him. he had seriously considered doing something drastic to get isaac's attention, but the only options were things like punching him in the face or throwing his iphone out a window... and he wasn't quite that desperate yet. although, things were heading in that direction, and fast.before gabe had the opportunity to start taking action, though, he and isaac got into a fight over text message. it wasn't exactly the way gabe wanted to broach the subject with isaac, but there were no other options. isaac had been ignoring and avoiding gabe for over a month, not to mention saying negative things about him to other people, and it had to come to an end somehow. the only problem was that isaac seemed to think gabe had a contractable disease, and wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. why? what had gabe done to him that was so atrocious and unspeakable, they couldn't even be in the same room as one another? absolutely nothing, that's what. as far as gabe was concerned, isaac could go fuck himself.their relationship had gone south at an alarming rate, and gabe couldn't remember exactly what had put them over the edge. was it anything specific, or was isaac just pissed off at everyone? it didn't make any sense - at least, not to gabe. and the worst part of it all was the fact that isaac was the only person gabe had ever allowed to get past his barrier, aside from his parents. one of the things people first identified about gabriel was the fact that he seemed distant and impossibly stand-offish, and those were both true: he didn't go out of his way to make friends, nor did he try and make friends with those who did. he preferred to keep to himself and worry about his own problems, rather than concerning him with the problems of everyone else. was that such a crime? but isaac had somehow landed in gabe's life as his roommate freshman year, and for the first few months, they hadn't exactly gotten along. isaac was persistent, though - the only person that ever cared enough to keep trying with gabe - and eventually, they'd become best friends. gabe trusted isaac with his entire life, and he would've done anything for his british best friend. isaac was the only person in the world that didn't look at gabe and see a freak, someone undeserving of friends or human contact. well, he was the only person. now, whenever isaac looked at gabe, there was an air of disdain and anger. gabriel could see it in isaac's eyes: sadness, frustration, and... was that disgust? how had this happened? the only person that gabe had ever striven to impress and make happy, the only person he'd ever cared enough about to want to fiercely protect, the only person that had ever meant enough for him to attempt socialization with now hated him, and he wasn't sure why.the argument that had taken place via their iphones wasn't just another spat between roommates. it was so much more than that. somehow, they'd really gotten into it and this time, isaac actually had the nerve to tell gabe to get out. his exact words were, "find yourself a new roommate that can put up with you, asshole." when gabe was in fourth grade, he fell and hurt his knee so bad that it required stitched. in eighth grade, he'd nearly broken his arm by falling from a tree. in eleventh grade, he'd wrecked his car into a telephone pole. his junior year of college, he'd gotten his heart broken. and still, out of all the injuries he'd undergone, nothing had ever hurt him as badly as isaac's hate.the search for a new roommate was pointless now, since school was ending soon, anyway. luckily for gabe, his hometown was a little over an hour away from stratton, and so he'd simply driven to hartford. it was the only place where he knew he was welcome, and he definitely wasn't going to stay in canterbury - not when everything there reminded him of his best friend, or ex-best friend now. had he been in a better state of mind, he would have thought how silly it was that the end of their friendship was so similar to the end of a romantic relationship, but that was how they were. an old married couple, almost - but now, everything was ruined. where was gabe to turn?the porch of his parents' house wasn't particularly inviting to gabe - he'd never been big on sitting outside and admiring nature - but it was better than sitting inside the stuffy living room. he wanted a beer and some time to himself. he should have been coding, because that's what he always did when there were things bothering him, but his eyes hurt from staring at his laptop screen so much. so instead, he'd taken to the porch with a bottle of budweiser and nothing but his thoughts to accompany him. his parents were out of town for a couple of weeks, anyway, so he'd have the house to himself. next to him on the open porch were several stacks of cardboard boxes, the contents of which were his entire stratton life. his half of the dorm room that he'd once shared with isaac was now stuffed into boxes, hidden beneath cardboard and packing tape. packing hadn't taken long; he didn't have that many possessions, and he was driven by the need to escape and get away from his pissed off roommate.well, sitting in hartford on his parents' porch, he'd certainly done a good job. tag: open outfit: click me words: 1078 notes: my otp has been torn apart. :(credit to tom felton at caution

i know we are going our seperate waysGreat job Isaac, great job on making your life a total mess. It was as if though he had decided to take his life in Canterbury, a very delicate piece of artwork that he had, and throw it to the ground. He didn’t know exactly what had gotten into him. It had been a stack pile of events that had lead to Isaac finally snapping and isolating himself from everyone he had known. He didn’t quite know anymore when to pin point when everything started. It could be when he got the call from doctors without borders informing him that he suspended from the operations of the charity due to his publicity problems. Truth be told it had all been Isaac’s fault, all the choices he had made this year had been wrong. It sucked to know that he had wasted a year of his life trying to get somewhere, only to find that you picked all the wrong answers. From then on he had only picked worse. To a point where he decided it was best to cut himself out of his friends lives for a while until he could stabilize everything on his own. This was a great choice, except he didn’t quite word it this way the first time he came to that conclusion. Actually he made the mistake of blaming his sudden bad turn of events on his friends. It wasn’t Gabe or Natalie’s fault that he got kicked off the DWOB team, that Skye and he broke up, and that he didn’t know where he stood with them anymore. Isaac had messed up a lot of that on his own and had been looking for someone to blame other then himself. The whole problem with Natalie was still a big mess, one that he didn’t dare deal with yet, she wanted her space, and Isaac was willing to give her that for now. Skye and Isaac were over, mostly because of what had happened between Isaac and Natalie. Also because it seemed like Skye had been going through the same thing with her friend Nate. Right now Isaac just wanted to concentrate on fixing everything that he could fix. Starting with his roommate and best friend Gabe, Isaac refused to think of him as an ex-roommate and ex-best friend. That problem had started during their trip to Brazil, and had continued on till now. They had talked about Brazil, about their fight. Never did they actually put action into fixing it after that. Mostly because as soon as that happened, everything started to snowball up; he got suspended from the charity, he had sex with Natalie, and met Skye. It didn’t help that Gabe had been so adamant about Isaac dating Skye. It made sense now; Gabe had been looking out for him. Isaac had been too blinded by his attraction to Skye, and need to redirect his feelings for Natalie to her then to listen to Gabe’s voice of reason. Isaac ended up shutting his roommate out even more than before. Isaac didn’t want to hear Gabe lecture him about Skye, not that he tried to after the first time. Still it felt like he had been completely against them, when Isaac had been looking for someone to tell him that it was fine. Of course it wasn’t fine, but Isaac just realized that now. Back then it had been ‘love is love no matter what age’, now that he thought about it now he had just been looking for a way to distract himself from Natalie. Skye had walked in at the perfect time, and she had been more than willing to date him. Gabe had always looked out for Isaac’s best interest. Isaac had a knack of following his emotions then rational reasoning. It made no sense for Isaac to be dating a seventeen year old high school senior, especially when there was a girl like Natalie in his life. Gabe had pointed this out to him, and Isaac had just shrugged it off. When Skye and Isaac finally broke up in the Bahamas he blamed it on himself. Isaac further ignored Gabe, he didn’t want to hear how he had been right. Heartbroken at the moment he stayed in bed ignoring his friends and keeping to himself. Isaac hadn’t loved Skye, but it still hurt to let her go. That text message from Gabe had come at the wrong time. Isaac was not having the time of day, and for his friend to call him out on just that, couldn’t he see that Isaac had been more affected by the break up then he wanted to be? Instead Gabe had to be his usual insensitive self and went off on him. It had been a short fight, and things were said in the heat of the moment. The biggest mistake had of course come from Isaac, pretty much kicking Gabe out of their dorm. He had no authority to do that, but at the moment it felt like his only escape.Isaac had not thought that Gabe would actually move out. He had spent the night at Adrian’s house, another way to avoid his closer friends. In the morning he drove back on campus and lazed around until finally making it back to his dorm. Surprised wouldn’t cut the description of how he felt when he saw the half empty dorm room. Isaac had been at loss of words. Gabe had actually moved out. His stuff was gone, disappeared over span of 24hrs. It had been a few days now since the incident, Isaac had tried to move on, figured it was for the best. It wasn’t, he found himself worrying about Gabe, not that he thought the guy couldn’t live without him, but Isaac knew that they had a very close friendship and that Isaac dumping him out of his life wasn’t good for him, for the both of them. Isaac needed Gabe around, he needed him to be his voice of reason, the only person that looked out for Isaac not because he had to, but because he wanted to. If Isaac didn’t want to lose Natalie AND Gabe, not because of a stupid mistake. Taking a left turn at a four way stop Isaac drove into the familiar residential community that the Swanson’s lived on. He didn’t know the way off by heart, the few times that he had visited had been with Gabe. It had taken him an hour jus to navigate the roads of Hartford to get to Gabe’s place in addition to his drive time from Canterbury. When he parked on the side of the road he knew he had gotten the right place. Not only did he recognize the house, but he recognized the guy sitting on the porch. Turning the car off Isaac took a few deep breaths reminding himself to stay calm. Isaac got out of the car, making his way up the walkway that lead to the steps to the porch. He stopped half way up the walk way and stood there staring at Gabe, not daring to get any closer incase Gabe decided he wanted him to be gone. “Hey, Isaac started weakly, with an apologetic expression. “May I talk to you for a bit? He said this louder, with a slight frown as he noted the boxes on the porch. Isaac wanted his roommate back, no, he needed his best friend back.
