ME AND MY BAND OF BROTHERS ADVANCE
UNDER SIEGE, WE'RE GONNA LIVE FOREVER
grant didn't like thinking about it. no, he was not the type of person to dwell on matters such as these. he did everything he actively could to ensure that moments like this never had the opportunity to seize him in such a way and leave him feeling so ashamed. but he stood there in the middle of the freshly mowed lawns, amidst a clutter of students out to enjoy the beautiful day that canterbury had finally given them; and for a brief moment, he felt shame. this could have been his reality. these people, with their book bags and laptops, they could have been his peers. this could have been his world. his parents, they would have given anything to have him here. studying law. doing something productive. but grant wasn't here for any other reason than to see jackson. he was the only reason that grant would ever visit the campus, and he often tried the most he could to ensure he didn't have to visit the place that had rejected him. yeah, grant didn't like thinking about it. but sometimes he really couldn't help it.

and suddenly, just like that, he snapped out of it. and everything was okay again. jackie was here, living out the life that grant knew his parents wanted for him. he mused then, mainly for shits and giggles, what it would be like if he were the envious type. he'd probably resent his best friend for living the life he could never live; he'd probably despise him for it. but grant wasn't that person at all. so what, if he didn't live out this reality. so fucking what. he knew what he wanted to do, and he was determined to get it done. he hadn't told anyone, but he had applied for stratton come the new school year, and he intended to come back and play for the ball team. he had to start somewhere, and he had already missed his opportunity to play for the heels thanks to his folks. he couldn't waste time anymore, he was in the prime of his game and he knew that he had to make his name now, especially since he lived in a commercial city.

and college girls were pretty fucking hott, too. that was always a plus. he smirked at a group of girls walking near him, smiling roguishly and pretending as though he was embarrassed by their attention; girls loved the modest act. it worked well, and he found himself in conversation with them in no time, happy to find that they were essentially leading him to the building that he knew jackie would be in. he realized that he should probably give his friend a thumbs up, pulling out his phone and sending a quick message in warning. hey bitch, i'm coming to see you. as in, 5 seconds away. i'll be outside your class when it ends. he didn't even bother asking if he had any other plans, because grant didn't care. he liked to think that he had a claim to jackson's time before anybody else; they had been best friends since he could remember, after all. he was going to hang out with him whether jackson liked it or not, because that's just the way it worked. eventually they made it to the building and grant took up residence beside the door leading into jackson's class, waiting for it to end while continuing his game of flattery with the girls. they were a nice distraction for the time being.

no point in asking,I DON'T BELIEVE ILLUSIONS BECAUSE TOO MUCH IS REAL. SO STOP YOU'RE CHEAP COMMENTS BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT WE FEEL. OH WE'RE SO PRETTY. this was the last class of the day and he couldn't wait for it to be over. jackson's phone began to vibrate and he glanced over to the teacher before picking it up. most of the time he had his phone off in class so he wouldn't get distracted but now and then when he knew the material he didn't mind sending a text message here and there as long as the professor was oblivious. he couldn't help but smirk when he read the message was from grant who of course showed up to campus just because he wanted to. he seemed to run on his own schedule and whenever he could fit you in you really had no choice but to hang out with him. if anyone else had sent this type of message jackie would have told them he couldn't hang out because he had plans with some of the kids in his class. the plans meaning that they were just going to do some work for the class together, nothing too interesting, and nothing that jackson really cared about missing. but this was grant, and when it was grant everything was different. there was no way he'd let anyone else interrupt their time together and there was no rejecting him. with a small chuckle he put the phone back onto the table and continued to take notes on the current lecture. the professor was so into his ranting that he didn't realize that most of the people in the class weren't paying attention. from his seat in the hall he could see everyone's computer screen which mostly consisted of facebook, twitter, and tumblr. his computer screen on the other hand just happened to be a note-filled word document. when it came to school jackson normally took everything very seriously which left little room for social time. if it wasn't for grant and his girlfriend he would probably be invested in school 24/7. it didn't take very long for the class to end even though it felt like an eternity because he knew that grant was outside waiting. once the class was officially dismissed jackson gathered his things and went over to talk to the people he had plans with. quickly explaining his situation he suggested that they reschedule things. they weren't too happy with it but there wasn't much they could do so jackson apologized once more before leaving them to talk. walking outside he immediately saw grant of course flirting with any girl he thought happened to be attractive. too bad none of those girls realized that they would never be able to call him theirs for very long, though many have tried. no matter what anyone said about him they had to admit that grant had a way with women. it didn't matter if they knew of his reputation they still couldn't help but fall for his charm. jackie didn't think he'd ever be able to have that type of way with girls, not that he needed too because he was in an amazing relationship with his current girlfriend. but it was interesting watching the different girls come and go all having the same taming the lion mentality in the beginning. i'm glad you found something to do while you waited he said watching grant's latest victim who couldn't seem to keep her eyes off of him. this post is --- five hundred sixty one words long. i'd like to say yay grant/jackie ftw

jackson seemed to be taking his sweet ass time, so grant had taken the liberty of getting to know the typical college girl a little bit better. turns out, they're a lot more interesting than the everyday hipster girl who would walk into his record shop and ask dumbass questions like why coldplay isn't placed in the indie section. but at the end of the day, they were all females. they all had different things they respectively enjoyed, but the tactic was always generally the same. he was just getting the number from one of the girls, a fit chick with fierce red hair, when jackie finally showed up and commented on grant's distraction techniques. he smirked, standing up from the bench and slinging an arm lazily over his friend's shoulder. "sorry girls, jackie here is the jealous type. he doesn't like when i pay more attention to other people over him." he winked at jackson then, offering up one last smile and a shrug to accompany it, telling the girls to call him; though he didn't specify which one, honestly he didn't really care, and with that he was gone.

"you've got it made here, son. all of these girls go to waste on a dude like you." grant withdrew him arm as they walked away, pushing open the door and walking back out into the beautiful day. he said that comment jokingly, shaking his head at his friend for a moment. jackson was the complete opposite of him. he actually liked to be in relationships, whereas grant sucked at them. he was a one-girl typa man, though his girlfriend was fucking hott, so grant couldn't exactly blame him. he envied him sometimes, but in a completely good natured way, because he generally seemed happy being tied down to one chick. he didn't have the issues that grant had in regards to commitment and such. hell, the only person grant had ever really been committed to was jackson, ironically enough. "so we're going for lunch. my treat. i know how you poor university students are always broke." he flashed his trademark grin, patting his friend on the back. plus, he'd just been promoted to manager, so the pay was a helluva lot better. he figured jackson had to blow off some sort of study shit to come hang with him, mainly because the dude was always studying, so he decided to make it up to him this way. "maybe we'll eat outside, it looks like your skin could use some sun. do you ever leave the library except for the times when i make you?" it seemed like every time he called him up or texted him, he was either studying or with his girlfriend. which is why grant didn't even make plans with him; because he already knew where he'd be. it was easier to just show up, thereby forcing him to get out and breathe some fresh air.

no point in asking,I DON'T BELIEVE ILLUSIONS BECAUSE TOO MUCH IS REAL. SO STOP YOU'RE CHEAP COMMENTS BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT WE FEEL. OH WE'RE SO PRETTY. the girls gave them a disappointed look when grant put his arms over jackson's shoulder and confessed that he was the jealous type. "it's true" he responded to the comment with a shrug. raising his hand he stuck out one finger gesturing to number one and then pointing to himself with a nod. then of course they were all given the call me gesture before they left and by the look on their faces they all planned on calling as soon as possible. he just hoped that they would decide to do so when grant left campus so he wouldn't have to stick around to hear the conversation. it was pretty hard to keep a blank expression on his face so when the girls were no longer looking he couldn't help but chuckle at the situation. he could already tell that this was going to be yet another one of those days with grant that reminded him that he needed to get himself a social life. "you could always join me, though i'm not sure the campus could handle you" he responded to his friend with a slight nudge. grant back in school again would be great and it would probably make his parents much happier. but he wanted to become a basketball player and he was really serious about his dream so jackie rarely pressured him to do anything else. who was he to get in the way of his best friends dream? running a hand through his hair he looked around campus and he did realize that there were definitely many attractive girls who happened to be around. the whole relationship idea just always appealed to him and if he had ever said anything different he would get scolded by one of his sisters. they made it very clear that girls were always to be respected and it always just stuck. the only girl that he needed was his girlfriend and he would be seeing her later tonight when they had dinner together."i can never resist a free meal, especially if you're the one paying" jackson said following it by a wink. lunch did sound like a great idea, he didn't even realize what time it was. if it hadn't been for grant coming along he would probably be in the library with his study group not even realizing that he had only eaten breakfast (which was just an apple he had grabbed on the way to an early class). these were the reasons he had to make sure grant always stuck around, without him jackson would probably be lost with anything that didn't involve school. he grinned at the comment regarding the fact that he school pretty much ruled his life. "yeah, sometimes i study in my room" he said still grinning. even though it seemed as though he was missing out on everything it would all be worth it in the end when he had the degree and the job he wanted. unlike most people jackson knew what he wanted to do with his life and he actually enjoyed the studying and the work that he had to put in it. in the end he'd know that he deserved everything that was given to him and it wasn't just because his parents happened to be successful. this post is --- five hundred and fifty-one words long. i'd like to say yay grant/jackie ftw

he grinned at jackson's little charade, shrugging nonchalantly to indicate that it was true. "you're my number one, babe." he only really had this relationship with jackie, when he could completely mess around and know it wouldn't be taken to an extreme level. with his boys back in high school, they'd joke around and stuff but there was always that one guy who liked to make shit awkward and call people gay. granted, he was usually the one being pounded on, but still. as they walked, grant considered if he should tell jackson that he was coming back to stratton now or later. he was going to wait till the meal to fully lay it on him, but he decided he couldn't wait. he missed being in school with his best friend, catching him between classes and being his dorm mate. they could have all of that again, and it'd be even more epic because they were older and were legally allowed to posses alcohol. "welllll," he began, stressing the world to ensure jackson understood he was about to tell him something important. well, that and grant just liked to be dramatic from time to time. "it's gonna have to learn how to handle me because i'll be an official stratton student this time next year."

he looked over then, wiggling his eyebrows at his friend and biting his lower lip in anticipation of his response. "are you ready for this, stratton?" he said in the best broadcaster voice he could muster, following it up with the basketball intro theme song. he could picture it now, the antics that jackie and him could get into up here, together. he knew that jackson was a dedicated student, and though he often dragged his ass around to parties and forced him to loosen up, he knew his limits and didn't intentionally try to sabotage his academic track record. grant had ball, and jack had books. that was the way it had always been. he'd been the only friend that grant's parents ever truly approved of because of this fact. and even in high school, grant would spend a lot of time with his bros and such, but jackson came before all of them. it had never been awkward because jackson had played on the ellison team, as well. but where it was just a past time for him, it was a career for grant. he was going to make it big someday, he was sure of it.

"of course you can't resist, you gold-diggin' hoe." he shook his head, cutting through the lawn to get to the parking lot quicker. "i'm going to kidnap you from campus and drive down to main street. the food here is shit." he pulled out his keys and walked towards his car, a white Z4 BMW. it was a 2007 model, as his parents had bought it for him back when they still loved him and he hadn't crushed their hearts by being rejected from law school, but he kept it maintained and it was good enough for a record store manager. plus, he didn't care what anyone said, it was a fucking sexy car. he got into the drivers seat and adjusted his mirrors, pulling out his shades and waiting for jackie to get in the car before revving it up. "soon you're going to be rooming with me. you know that, right? i don't even remember who your roommate is, but they're getting the boot once i'm officially a student up in here." classic grant and his sense of entitlement.
