A WEEK EARLIER:

A mighty demon of monolithic stature erupted from the sky and fell to the earth with a resounding boom.

It was the "Fiend of the Outer Planes", "The Bane of Artiim." Four feet firmly planted on the ground, it still towered above the tall trees of the Kuealivadaraen forest. It gave a mighty roar, which ended with a surprising sound...

Screams of mortals.

The demon looked down to find a that a large elven village stood not 200 yards from it. It gave another roar and sent a ball of fire from its maw that engulfed elven architecture in a wicked inferno.

The elves tried to defend themselves, but they were caught unprepared for such a power. It wouldn't have mattered either way.

Artiim's Bane crushed the entire village in a matter of minutes. A few stragglers ran for all they were worth. They doomed their brethren, though, for they ran towards more villages; leading their enemy to their doorsteps.

The demon followed as only a creature with a stride length of several hundred feet can follow.
